RE: Re: RE: my 2 cents

I used to live on that lake a few years back and believe the boat was for sale then, the sides are banged up pretty good and the pictures where taken in the Marina's boat house and I would suspect the boat doesn't look as good now as it does in the pictures.

I think that's the "bump and run" method... Poor Nautique... Maybe he was powerloading the dock?

Yeah, it looks like the gelcoat and rubrail has been beat up pretty good, probably have to pass. Travis, I like your boat I'd just like to find a stock one so I can customize it.

I hear ya. That's half the fun!!! Times I wish I went with a different tower, but it looks much better in person. Just kind of simple.

Thanks Chris!!! I don't always have a million dollars to put in it, what with three little ones, but I think it sounds amazing, pulls like a tractor and never fails. She's a good boat. Now if only I was any good at wakeboarding. I guess I get a little better every year, but it's just too bad the season is so short.

Yeah I think if I was to put a tower on a 2001 it would have to be the FCT or the Airboom style, they seem to have the cleanest looking lines with the boat.

yes they do. I wish I had the cash at the time to go that route, but I've been very happy with this tower.

Yeah those towers aren't cheap! So what kind of price is fair for a bone stock, good condition '87-'89 2001? Do the '89s tend to bring a little more money?

I bought a gray-on-gray '88 in June '08 with about 650 hrs for $7500 after months of shopping and price comparisons. It included a trailer. This is my first boat and it was absolutely turn-key, well cared-for, and pulled wakeboarders all summer. The trailer was a mess however and I didn't know enough about trailers at the time to know it. A month after the purchase, with trailer repair bill in hand, I felt I should've offered $6500.

So from my experience from a year ago: $6500 to $8500 will bring you a great '87 to '89 2001. This year, you might get a solid one for a little less I suspect.

I have to put in a plug for an 87 or 88 as well; nothing like the sound of the dual exhaust and while it does not have the famed 1:1.23 tranny, I had no problem pulling adult w'boarders with 5 adults in the boat. With just me, no tune-up and a stock prop, 45 mph was a breeze as well. The boat is fantastic and was at the center of one of the best summers of my life.

Yeah, although the '89s have a few upgrades I would have no problem going with an '87 or '88. I found what looks to be a real nice '87 not to far from me for $8700. Says garage kept and 540 hours, might be worth checking out. Here are some pics:

Oh and by the way does anybody know the length and width of a 2001 on the trailer w/swim platform?

Would be hard to tell you that for the boat pictured since it is on a MasterCraft trailer. Our 88 on an original trailer is roughly 23-24' long.

When the factory shipped the 2001s, they removed the bow stop and slide the boat forward on the trailer. This is why you see that extra carpet on the trailer where the boat never really touches. The platform was then at the back edge of the trailer itself. If you are worried about winter storage, you could probably use this method w/o removing the platform to fit into a 21' garage. Next year I'm going to do this so I can get a bit more garage room. The prop will surely need to come off. I will leave the prop guard on the trailer though.

Really, the '87 I posted the pics of is on a MC trailer?
