    Trailer Maintenance

I have a 2001 SAN with a DHM tandem axle trailer with surge brakes. Is there some form of maintenance that is typically performed on the trailers? I have not looked to see if there are any grease nipples or anything, but figured I'd ask around here first before crawling under.

    RE: Trailer Maintenance

There should be grease fittings on each hub with a blue plastic collar showing. If the collar isn't showing it is possible that there might be water in the hubs because the grease has lost positive pressure. The brake cylinder is under the black disk in the tongue. Lift it off and the plug in the top of the cylinder and make sure there is brake fluid in it.To check if the brakes are working unplug the electrical connection to the vehicle and try backing up If you can the brakes are not working. Where are you located? DHM I believe is in Sacramento and are really helpful on the phone. Good Luck
