Detailed Pics of 2001 Super Air Rear 3 piece hatch

Hey, is there any way someone with a 2001 super air can take some detailed pictures of the rear engine/storage hatches in the stern? I am converting my 2000 super air to the three peice and would like some pictures of the 2001. Can you include the serial numbers on the attwood springlift gas springs as well? thanks!! i need pictures of the outside and inside of this puppy! THanks!

I can't help you with a 01, but on my 02, the shocks are the same as the ones under all the seats. All of them are the same. I read somewhere, where someone went to NAPA and got the same shocks, but at a lesser price. Do a search and try NAPA instead of paying for the Attwoods. Sorry I cant help with the rest. I could help with photos from an 02.

Pics of 2001 3 piece hatch

Here are some pics of my 2001 Super Air, hope they help. I priced the gas springs at NAPA and they were about the same price as going through my dealership. You will need two of the shorter ones for each side hatch (Total of 4) and two of the longer ones for the middle hatch (Total of 2). I happened to have my rear area apart right now so you can see more detail of how it is put together. The longer springs are Springlift, made by Attwood and the shorter ones are Master-Lift. You should be able to see serial numbers in the picture. I could only get 3 pictures to attach.

              RE: More pictures

Great pictures. So, is the benefit of the three piece sun deck so you can access one storage compartment or another without everyone having to get off the sun deck? I have a 99 with the one piece deck and have not lived with the boat long enough to know if three piece deck would be better or not.

                RE: More pictures

Thanks for taking this on Jamie. I have a lot of interest in this thread. I have a 99 SSN and have been considering this as well. After looking at the pictures it doesn't seem like it would be that big a project. But, spoke to White Lake Marine about parts and they felt it would be pretty expensive to go the CC route. But, I am sure you could work your way around certain pieces so you limited what you would have to purchase from CC.

If you had the exact dimensions of the three hatches you could probably even cut your existin hatch down to match the '01 pieces.

DAVID F: I have owned my boat since '99 and live on a very social lake so there are always lots of people on the boat. I find that I am constantly asking people to get off the deck to get anything from the engine compartment. Or, if you are on the back putting on a wakeboard and need something out of the deck you can't just lean over and open one hatch. Plus, I like the safety of being able to keep the engine covered all day if someone needs something out of either side compartment. Lastly, my batteries are both in the rear so if they are dead I don't have to tear the rear seat out to get into the rear compartment if the hatch won't lift.

                  RE: More pictures

All valid points as I suspected. I think cutting the one piece hatch into three would be problematic when recovering. On my '99 the hatch has a recess or notch if you will all the way around. The recess if for stapling the vinyl in place. If you cut the hatch into three pieces I suppose you could build in the notch when doing fiberglass work to seal off the exposed edges. Lots of work.

Also, you will have to replace the side rails or thru bolt one bolt of the two for the side hinges. Two biggest issues I see. I think the mode will cost $$$$ before it is complete.

I noticed today that I have a 2001, 210 with the three piece hatch. My hinge system, for the two side hatches, is much different than that depicted above. BKH

Exactly. Not that big of a deal until you have spent some time in boats with the 3-piece sundeck. After that it bothers you every time you have to tell somebody to move so you can get stuff out from under there.
