As a boat newb, I'll go ahead and fess up, when we first got the boat and tried parking it in the lift, the boat didn't go in exactly straight and actually when in a little ****-eyed and the prop actually banged up against the board on the left. Since then we havent done that but it has been my concern that it could happen again. I've had a little difficulty finding pictures of boat list from the back side to see how long their cradles span. I have found this one which shows me that my cradle boards (2x12) are too long. And we are currently in the process of repairing the prop.

You really dont need 2x12 but we used em just in case of making the mistake of lifting the boat with ballast etc. Our dock is at the end of the lake in shallow water so the 2x12 will not give us as much room as we want. I think we cut them to about 10 foot and our boat (210) fits on there perfect. Once you get some expirence you will learn how to drive into your dock at a slight angle and a little slower speed than an idle.

          Hornsfan:

By your handle, I assume you are either a UT student, alum, or Austin Resident (or all three). Anyway, if it were me, I would just cut off the boards and let the stern of the boat hang off like the picture above. The boats are incredibly strong and no damage will be done. Cut just ahead of the prop and no more. If you don't cut you or more important someone else will damage the prop again.

davidf, actually just a lifelong Longhorns fan. Loved em since I was a kid, didn;t go to school their but most of my cousins did. I actually went to Texas State in San Marcos. Our boat resides in the New Braunfels area...Lake McQueeney
