Losing my patience with Correct Craft

I placed the order for my 2009 210 back on January 8th. The boat was finished, water tested, and shrink wrapped for shipping in the first week of February. I was told at this point my boat would be shipped within 2-3 three weeks once a few other boats were finished that would go on the same truck as mine. No big deal because it is winter anyway. So three weeks go by and the boat hasn't shipped. I was told another two weeks. I finally get the e-mail from my dealer saying that Correct Craft had just called him to know my boat would be delivered on March 20th.

Here it is March 20th and the dealer just found out the boat never left the factory but we don't know why. I have left numerous messages with Correct Craft in Transportation and Customer Service over the past two days and my calls never get returned.

To top it all off my financing kicked in on my new boat so I have made two payments on a boat I haven't even seen yet. I am highly considering driving down to Orlando to get it myself but still a little hesitate to trailer that far. If someone were to hit me on the way back it would be on me.

Oh yea, it is getting very close to riding season here in NC. Last year I was already riding at this time.

Does anyone else agree 100+ days to build and ship a boat 600 miles up I-95 is a little too long, especially in these times when production is so slow?

I would find it totally unacceptable. But, you don't seem to be getting anywhere. I would haul a$$ down there tonight. 600 miles is a walk in the park. Then, get your dealer to refund the transportation/destination fee. Or give you gear or something in return. Make sure you are insured.

You are making payments on the boat when you have not accepted delivery??? I believe industry practice is a minimal deposit until you take delivery. I would have major issues with the dealer holding the value of a new boat before I took delivery. No wonder why you don't have it yet, seems the dealer has been using your money for a few months.

I would make a special trip down to the dealer and speak directly with the owner/manager. They owe you the interest on your money until boat is delivered. If they could not produce the boat within 7 days I would cancel the order and head straight to the MasterCraft dealer. They have plenty of fresh new boats in stock ready to deliver.

I think it is more a dealer issue than a CC issue. Who convinced you to fully finance a boat before taking delivery? If the dealer was waiting to be paid upon delivery of your boat, that boat would be in your driveway right now. Isn't it the responsibility of the dealer to coordinate this for you? Sounds like you've paid the dealer all their money but you're doing all the work!

This does bring up an interesting point though about leadtimes/transit-times. The factory is building/shipping fewer boats. To save money in this economy, they will likely only ship full truckloads. We could see wait times getting a lot worse if fewer boats are moving. The new boats will sit waiting to be shipped with other boats. Ugh.

Agreed. The trip isn't that much to go down from here, but at minimum I'd find out EXACTLY why it isn't here and when it WILL ship.

            That sucks!!

If it were me, I'd call Bill Yeargin and DEMAND to speak with him, give him the 411. I guarantee he'd do something about it. I'm sure he would care, and like to know, even about the unreturned phone calls.

sounds to me like the dealer should be hopping in his truck and heading to Orlando to pick up your boat!! I wouldn't go down there - but I would demand that he send someone down there, he owes you that much at the minimum.

If you are really making the payments....that means the loan has been "funded" and somebody (dealer and/or CC) has all the money. If you told this to any lender they would crap their pants knowing their money is gone and no product has been delivered....sounds Ponze to me.

I'm not sure what to do but scream at them....they owe you the interest and 4 bucks a mile to go get....and you better make dang sure that the in-service date is at delivery or you're losing warranty while you losing sleep. I pulled my 206 1050 miles from FL to TX.

Why on earth are you making payments on a loan for a boat that is not in your posession. I was a lawyer for a few years, and I've been in the business of selling equipment for 15 years now. I've never seen a contract that would require you to make payments when you don't have the goods. Unacceptable! Like mentioned earlier, I would go to your dealer and demand the boat be delivered within 5 days. If the boat is not delivered, I would report it to your financing agency and cancel the purchase. The dealership would have to refund your money since you have not taken possession of your boat.

More than likely aarond0083 took out a loan but not against the boat.

Agree this not an acceptable situation. This boat was done the first week in February and should be ready for it's 25 hour service by now. Yeah you save some money by shipping full loads but this is ridiculous. Florida to North Carolina? This is a no brainer.
