I saw a boat for sale thread on here that got out of hand because people kept posting negative comments about the price. Everyone agreed that this was making it harder on the seller and Jeff started the thread over to the original post. On the second go around the first post was a negative comment about the price. After reading this I posted in anger and after thinking about it I wish I hadn't. There is the history, here is my rant:
We are all family through owning a Nautique. If you are wishing you did, I hope that one day you will. These boats are held at a higher standard than other boats, that is why we and other people desire to own one. If you don't agree with the price that someone is asking on a Nautique and you keep it to yourself there is no harm done. If you post a negative comment, not only are you hurting that sellers chances of selling the boat at that price, you are also hurting the resale value of your own boat.
Think about it, if everyone had to come off of their price because you (a nautique enthusiast) kept posting negative comments about prices, then you are bringing the value of all nautiques down. You are pretty much telling a first time buyer that these boats just aren't worth these prices. It only hurts YOU in the end.
If you google a certain model nautique for sale, and one on planet nautique shows up, think about how that looks, when you are bashing the price. I don't care if the seller has a boat up for sale 5K more than he paid for it. If he sells it at that price that is great for all of us. If he doesn't then he should be the one to bring the price down. Noone can say how much any of these boats are worth. The fun and memories are priceless, and I can't think of anyother way I would want to be spending free time with my friends and family.
So in closing if you see the same boat going for a cheaper price, then by all means go get that boat and quit bashing an owner for wanting more for theirs. These boats mean more to some than others. And on the same note, some people may pay more than others for their dream boat.
Thank you for listening. Sorry for the long post.
