    tower info needed

I have a 98 ss/air and it has the first gen FCT on it, if i wanted to upgrade to a later model version, does anyone know if the mounting locations and holes will line up and which ones would work? I really dont want to deal with drilling and filling old holes. Thanks alot.

sorry buddy you are going to be outta luck. The newer generation use new holes. Go to New Dimension Towers for your new one. THe gel repair shouldn't be to bad. Good luck!

I added the NDT to my 99 Pro Air which had the same original tower as your boat. I had to fill the front holes, but I didn't really need to do any gelwork on the filled in holes, but I put some gel coat on there anyway. The front feet on the NDT towers have the holes "indexed" 90 degrees out from the original tower. Your NDT tower feet will line up in the same spot as the original tower.

The rear will require filling and gelcoat, or you could cover the area with something after you fill the holes.

My $0.02 the NDT tower is big improvement over the gen.1 FCT, stiffer, no noise, better options for mounting accessories, etc...

miljack, don't talk so badly about your old gen 1! it is treating me nicely!
i find it to be much stiffer than my buddy's gen 2, but his install left much to be desired.....

            Andrew,
glad to hear you're enjoying the tower, nice to know it's in the "family." Did you post pics of it installed on your 2001? What mods did you do to make it fit?

not sure if i did or not.... I should have started a thread that told everyone how patient you were with me while I scrambled around trying to find an ATM on top of forgetting about the time change! I still feel bad about that.... The only thing I had to do to get it to fit was cut the rear mounts in half and re-weld them at a different angle.... The front legs fit perfect!

I took this pic the day after I got back from Atlanta (the hull looks nothing like this now....)
