216 V Crossover Questions

I am considering buying the new 216 V, and had a couple questions for you guys. First, a little about me -- a middle aged slalom skier, who no longer runs the course but grew up on the 196 wake. I have an 8 year old who is looking to start wake boarding.

My first question is - has anyone skied behind this boat yet? What is the wake like? I saw the posts below, but there wasn't much info.

The second question concerns the package. One boat comes with the limited package, and other with the team package. The difference in price is around $7000, mainly for the tower speakers and amps, docking lights, zero-off cruise, and air dam door. Is this worth it?

Well, firstly, with an 8-year-old you are either my labido hero or you are not too old to run courses. :-)

IMO the audio system from CC isn't really worth the money. You can do a lot better for the money on your own or with a good custom shop. Docking, tower, transom, and other lites can also be done after market without too much difficulty. ZO is worth it's weight in gold. Can your dealer order the air dam door for you separately?

FWIW, I grew up on a variety of pre 90's Nautiques. I'd love to have a 196 but after much shopping of CC, MC, BU, and Gekko we went with a 211 as the best compromise for us. Decent wake for me to slalom and decent wake for me and others to board. My wife loves our 211 but I do think she'd like the storage and people capacity of the 216v better. I think I do prefer the 211 wake to the 216v though. Neither is a 196.

Sure, I think he can order that without a problem. I guess it just boils down to whether the zero off is really worth it on a family boat. I "suffered" through 20 years without cruise control (before perfect pass), so the nautique cruise is fine for me.

You can always add on Zero Off after the purchase. It is a very simple installation.

i'd get a limited w/ z.o., remove anything that says limited, and add things down the road if you decided want a dam door or what have you. you def. don't want their tower speakers

I've heard the 216v ski wake is okay, but not quite a 211 (best V-drive CC ski wake). Still not a 196 or 206, though. I doubt I'd get my wife to go back to a DD, though.

The 211 is now meant to be stripped down entry level, and the 216v is geared toward an option ridden upgrade. Therefore, you won't find a 211 with lots of options (starting this year) and won't find a stripped down 216v.

What do these cost. How is the wakeboard wake? Are they as much as the 210????

My son has boarded behind all 3. He prefers the 210. Even on the 211 and 216v.

Wouldn't keyless ignition and digital guages be the only things really not available on the new 211's? Audio is best purchased separately anyway and ZO can be added

Tower difference: 211 get's FCT 1 or 2 and 216v gets only FCT 3.

Beyond that, I don't know. I've just heard several times that the 211 is now the entry only option and 216v is feature full.

Forgot about the FCT3 not being available on the 211's. When the Z5 cargo bimini is available for the FCT2 this will be less of an issue, if I were buying new today that would be a big consideration though. The Z5 seems like a very worthwhile option (even at $2k).

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I will stick with the Limited, and add the ZO if/when it's needed. I am hoping a stereo upgrade won't be needed (by the boy) for a few years.

Can you arrange a test ride? Lots of folks suggest (insist) on taking a test ride on ski and/or wake board before buying.

This site provides photos of wakes, but as set up for wakeboarding, usually.

your dealer will certainly take you for a test ride and if not don't buy anything.

For what its worth I had heard from a pretty reliable source that an FCT2 will be available for the 216V and the 226V soon. This will at least give another tower option for those two boats which will be a nice selling point.
