Made a mistake removing dash warning plate

So I pulled all of the warning and danger stickers off the transom, tower, gear knob, and near each gas cap on my 210. Some might disagree with this practice but I've been boating long enough now that I don't need warning stickers.

Once I finished with all those I decided to pull the one on the dash right of the stereo remote. Bad move as the sticker is on a hard plastic plate that is stuck on with a super strong glue and heat gun. It looks to me that the silver dash panel is damaged from the heat adhesive and there is no way to remove all the glue and plastic left behind for it to look new again.

I have seen a few boats here with all the stickers and warning messages removed. That includes the dash decal as well as the two large ones near the throttle. Did those guys just replace the panels to get that look or was I just unlucky with the super strong heat glue.

My options are clean it the best I can and deal with it, replace that silver panel piece with a new one, or just get another warning decal to cover up the mess. Replacing the panel is what i prefer but not sure how much one cost and how easy it is to remove and install.

Maybe the N3 guys can chime in. Seems like they took apart and put back together a few Nautiques over in their shop.

I would fix it if I was closer to you! I would recommend checking with correct craft and seeing if you can get that panel without the warning stickers on it. If not, then I would go to your local auto body repair shop and see how much they would charge to fix the plastic areas where the stickers were and re-paint it. I have an 02 SANTE and have painted my Faria gagues to match my silver dash inserts and its not a big deal. Just need to find someone comfortable working with plastic and can do a good silver color match.
Good luck with whatever you decide on doing.
        Harold.

Dont worry about it aaron, all you have to do it take a heat gun or hairdryer to it. Get it hot and it will peel off very easy, just like old stickers. You will also need to get some Goo Gone to clean up any residue left. Super easy to do. Mine peeled off perfectly and I will re-glue it when I sell it.

You could find a peice of aluminum(ex Road signs) and cut it to fit and then polish it to look like crome. Glue it on or somthing like that.

I have already put a heat gun to it with rubbing alcohol and goo gone. I'd love to use something stronger like paint thinnner but that will eat that plastic up. Also, the warning plate was applied with heat so some of the panel was melted with the glue when it was put on at the factory. I am going to try to get a new one from my dealer without the sticker. If by some chance I can't, I will take the panel off and figure out a way to cover it cleanly. Aluminum cut jut right may look really cool. I could engrave it and have my own custom dash plate.

I did the same exact thing. Called the dealer and ordered a new one without the labels. I think it was somewhere around 50 bucks. Kinda expensive but it looks a lot better without the warning labels.

awoollie, what model is your boat? and how easy is it to remove and replace the panel. I don't want to have to take half the dash apart.

$50 to replace the panel is my fix. So if you really want that sticker gone on your new Nautique just save time time and buy a new panel. I would also like to remove the two larger ones near the throttle but that panel is much more $$$ so those are staying.

I don't believe it's a legal requirement for the owner to have it on there, the requirement is for the company to provide the info (ex. mattress tags: not to be removed except by Consumer). But by removing the warning decals, you might be removing some sort of legal responsibility from CC. Also, if you resell it the next owner might run across a situation.

I'd love to hear a lawyer chime in, though.

I agree - Maybe someone can give an answer
I read it as it is required to be in there at all times - why else would they want it to leave signs of tampering.
Also as to capacity - how would anyone ever get busted for being over capacity if it is not in there?

Just for the record I left those signs you guys are now discussing in my boat. The only warnings I removed were related to the tower, carbon monoxide, gas fumes, and running props.
