    Layoffs at Malibu

They are laying off approx 22% of their workforce and notified all employees that they may temporarily stop production in May of this year.

        RE: Layoffs at Malibu

If I read it right, the 22% represented the toyota parts plant. In terms of Malibu, the place employs 200 or so and could lay off as many as 153. 1 boat a day by way of production. Sounds like the Tennessee plant is doing fine though. There is more pain to follow I'm sure. The G20 meeting today gave a spike in the perspective of the world economy, but none of the fundamentals have changed; just political nonsense.

          Since 1925

          Since 1925.

Building boats to the glory of God.
          Since 1925.

Lets see, in no particular order. A world war, the great depression, several minor wars, several recessions, bankruptcy, paying back all the money owed from the bankruptcy, even though they did not have to. Building boats to help win the World War.
          Since 1925.

Building boats to a higher quality, even though most people do not know it. Not just building boats that are shiny, and loaded with useless trim or eye candy.
          Since 1925.

Not buying multiple page ads in magazines, not spending excessive amounts on promotion, but putting the money into boat quality, and team rider development.
          Since 1925.

Building a true closed bow tournament ski boat, not just a hull bottom you can slap a closed bow deck on and call it a tournament boat. Even though there is probably not a lot of profit in the Ski Nautique, and a fair amount of them are sold for promo boats, further eroding the profit from this model, they keep making it.
          Since 1925.

( I know the Ski Nautique was not made in 1925, but remember, the first Mastercraft ski boat came out of a Ski Nautique mold that Correct Craft sold to them.)

Instead of laying people off, employing them in community service.
          Since 1925.

I hope the current leadership at Correct Craft has the foresight, and wisdom to lead this company through these difficult times. So far, it looks good. Better than companies that make "M" boats.

For those at Correct Craft, in this time of uncertainty, I think it is time to resurrect a slogan that seems to have been dropped from your recent promotions. I honestly it would be a reassurance to your present, and future customers.

          Since 1925.

              Great post.

I still feel there is a bit more profit in a 196 than perceived by this group.

I don't have the numbers, obviously.

                RE: Re: Since 1925

Correct Craft has had to do layoffs as well, although they seem to be in the best position out of the big three. At this point the inboard manufacturers are competing against the economy rather than each other.

Wish the best for Malibu and their employees.

                  Since 1925.
The first MC was a CC boat that they cut down and rebuilt. It was a working CC boat, not a new MC from a CC mold.

                    Since 1925 !

I sure would like it if they would refer to themselves as Correct Craft again. I think that identity should be resurrected also. I do not care for them referring to the company as Nautique.

I just found the patch the other day cleaning out my boat cabinet. Have my NOA certificate and everything. My kids had the little NOA shirts when they were toddlers, too.
