GoJacks on the rear axle and push it by hand. That is all I do. Works just fine if there is no incline.

      RE: Re: RE: Manuevering trailer

Thanks everyone. I've ordered a pair of GoJaks and intend to use them on the rear axle. There is a slight incline so I don't know if we will be able to push by hand or not. We will try pushing it by hand and if that doesn't work easily we will have to go with some sort of powered alternative. A hitch on the front of the truck won't work because there really is no room in the driveway for maneuvering something that big. I hadn't thought about the riding mower before but dont recall ever seeing one with a hitch that could move a trailer of that size. Is there any minimum size of riding mower I would need to look for? 4000 lbs of boat is a lot to move.

Have you thought of an ATV.
I have a ball on the back of my riding mower, but is only a 13hp and struggles with 3000lbs single axle trailer

Put the front hitch on your vehicle. You will have not problem pushing your trailer into tight areas at extreme angles using your steering axle...plus you get better visibility. I've had one on my farm truck for years pushing 4-wheeled wagons into tight corners and around pole barn poles.

When you get the front hitch, hook your inside trailer tire just inside the door, go 90 degrees immediately with the trailer tongue to the front bumper...just so you don't jack-knife and booger up your hitch or bumper. Then turn your front wheels to the stop all the way in the direction your pushing your trailer. Peace of cake.
          Peace..

I mounted a 120 Vac winch motor in the back of the garage. I have two 20 ft nylon slings that loop under the trailer and connect to the winch cable. I use one of my kids to actiavte the winch and I steer the trailer in the garage. To get the trailer out, we reverse the process so the boat comes out to the point in can be connected and the winch holds it from taking off. I think I have pictures and more information in another post on this site.
