I know a latch that you can put a pad lock into, one part attaches to the seat and the other to the floor. Then you flip it up and put a lock in the loop. I don't know the official name but I can get you a picture of one, any home depot will have one. The only down side is that you need to screw into the seat and the floor, but you could slip it under the carpet and seat covering and cut a small opening for the hatch, that way you would have to look hard to see it but it does involve some cutting and working of the seat.

If you are concerned about theft - I would reconsider the storage location of the boat. Anyone looking to get at your equipment will most likely do more damage to the boat getting at what they want. If the person has no idea what they are doing they will be more inclined to get at what is locked up and in most cases do anything to get there.

Crappy thing to have to worry about. I wish it was punishable by death. I can't stand a thief.

My buddy took the original radio from his chevy, and cut the back off it (the guts) and made a little plate around his new headunit, and made the face of the original so it would slide over the new, so it looked stock. hard to explain but worked like a charm.

I'd suggest a few batteries hooked to the tower or any metal parts that a thief would touch. kill 'em all.

In college the thing to do was to have fish hooks (treble hooks) or razor blades attached to the back of your radio. Certainly you would have some aditional damage to your vehicle but you also had some satisfaction knowing the @$#%$# thief would think twice before simply putting his/her hands beind the radio to disconnect/unplug and leave you with an empty dash.

Locks just keep honest people honest. They are great small stuff, like your ipod or phone when left in the glove box or wherever when you park for a bit at a busy location........most people arent going to risk getting caught breaking the lock with the other peopel around. But if they are after your stereo equipment, they have plenty of time and arent worried about being seen, so a padlock is not going to stop them.
