    Cover suggestions

Hey all...there has been a lot of discussion on various threads about covers lately, but I haven't really found the definitive answers to my questions. I'm looking for a cover that I can trailer for drives of several hours. Normally we keep the boat in our garage, but we take long drives from time to time and I want to keep the boat protected. I've heard mention of Carver, Rankin and Commercial covers. There's not much info on the Commercial covers; Rankin seems to be the high price provider. Carver seems like an awesome blend of quality and price. So if you have experience with any of the above covers or any other cover for that matter, let me know what you think.

Here's the custom cover on my boat with a full skirt up front to protect from stones etc, works great when towing! Boat lives here in NZ tho so can't help with suggestions on where to purchase.

        the right cover

For long drives and no side tie down straps and full protection of your gel coat you can't go wrong with the Rakin cover.

RE: custom cover for 02 210 team

@nautique_dreamer - We're trying to get a group buy organized with Rankin right now if you're interested. I think it's one of those things where you were already going to buy a Rankin cover and a group buy would just give you a discount...e.g., you've got to commit to getting one without knowing what the actual price is going to be. If you were already going to get one, no biggie right?

I'm probably in the same situation as you with the questions. Here's what I've learned:

            Carver: cheapest quote $420
            - lightweight, very waterproof, breathable, meets 80% of what I want
            - may or may not be towable
            - no side skirts but could purchase extra material and have them made.
            - example: http://www.planetnautique.com/index....ports&start=15

            Coversports / Rankin custom cover: $720 ??
            - sunbrella, very water resistant, breathable, 90% of what I want
            - very well made, custom fit with no poles - fits like a glove.
            - does not cover the platform with could get attachment for extra cost.
            - easily towable
            - no side skirts.
            - example: http://www.planetnautique.com/index....ht=coversports

local made custom cover: $800 (+ $400 with skirts)
            - sunbrella (see above)
            - very well made, custom fit with poles - fits like a glove
            - meets 95-100% of what I want.
            - may or may not be towable.

You have to decide what cost and functionality is best for you. If the Rankin group buy does not work out, I'm getting a Carver. Hope this helps.

RE: custom cover for 02 210 team

The carver is towable. I tested mine this weekend. Kind of a pain to put on all the straps but worth it for a long haul. 99% of the time I tow sans the cover.

As I said in the other thread, I prefer this performance poly material over sunbrella. Very lightweight and easy to put on.
