    Pennsylvania riding season begins!

Got the boat out yesterday for the first time and had a great afteernoon on the lake. Over the off season picked up a acme 1465 power prop, fly high v-drive sacs, and flyhigh integrated bow sac. The wake is huge now, and the sacs worked flawlessly. Going to take a few weeks to get all my tricks back. I think next time I need to ride on a longer line and at about 22.5 to 23mph. What is every one else at with a 07-09 210? Anyways here are a few pics. Water temp was 47, and dont laugh at the old school wet suits.

Ouch 47 deg! I rode yesterday for the first time as well at 62 water temp, and it took me about 5 minutes to quit shivering. As for boat speed, I normally ride around 23-23.7mph. I like it faster than slower for my toeside tricks (in a 08 210). Not to mention that the new 210's wake is way wider than before, you almost need that much speed if your rope is way out. I am still tinkering around with my rope lengths, cause I have one that is too short and one too long (even after taking some off). I can't seem to get it just perfect.

How does your integrated bow sac fill? Does it push up on the seat cushions at all?

Ya it was very very cold. If it was warmer i would have messed with rope legnth. I would kill for some 60 degree water here lol. Yes the seat will pop up if you fill it completely. Once it pushed up, i drained for 15 seconds and it was perfect. We took the overflow line from the belly tank, it splits at a T, then fills both sides of the bow sac. Its nice not to have to mess around with lead weights or plugging in pumps to the cigarette lighter. Simply just push a button and your set. The downside is you lose alought of storage. Overall im very happy with it.

Thanks for the input, i am thinking about plumbing in another sac in my front. I have a tube sac plumbed in the locker now, but was considering plumbing an integrated sac after the tube sac. Right now, I've got 11 orange life jackets crammed into the bow seats, can't decide where else to put them.

                  Saturday Adventure

We were out yesterday up near Reading, PA. Water temp there was around 49. It’s usually a lot warmer than that this time of year but it’s been cold and rainy. We were out for about three hours with another family and me and one other did some boarding. At around 4 p.m. we sat out in the middle of the lake and just chilled for a while. I looked out about 100 yards and saw three kayakers in the water sitting still. The longer I looked at them the more I realized something wasn’t right as they were congregated in a tight circle. I told my friend Steve we’d better putt over there. As I approached at a low idle I noticed three teenage girls in three kayaks. As I looked closer one was swamped with one girl in the water. Keep in mind they were all smack in the middle of the lake at least 400 yards from any shoreline with no one else around. Right away I noticed she is in pretty bad shape, no wet suit, jeans on, and an old orange life jacket. She’d been in the water for a while, face was turning blue, disoriented, and beginning to panic. There was no way she, or the others were going to upright that kayak. To add to worse matters, the others were contemplating getting in and helping her, which would have only compounded problems. I told Steve as we approached closer “she needs to get out of that water fast, she’s on borrowed time.” We spun the boat around, told the wives and kids to get to the front, and hoisted her shaking body in to the back of the boat. I was an EMT/Paramedic for 10 years and I would say she probably had less than 10 minutes left. We wrapped her in towels and the ladies attempted to warm her as best they could. We took off to the shoreline where the docks were. Several of the camp counselors came down to meet us and took her from us. Fortunately it was 80 degrees outside and after about a ½ hour, a change of clothes and the warm sun began to come around. I later cautiously talked with the camp director and quietly explained to her the severity of what happened out there, urging her to have a chase boat close by in the future. Teenagers can be oblivious to water temps at times.

Moral of the story. Most of us “northern riders” have enough sense to know that if we are in cold water to have a wetsuit, drysuit, and know we aren’t in the water this time of the year to swim around. We’re in, up, then back in the boat. For those that don’t know any different upper 40 degree water temps, on a nice warm day, can be an ingredient for disaster.

My friends and I are in no way standing up beating on our chests that we are “bay watch heros.” We are just glad that we were in the right place at the right time. Had we not have been there we would have been reading about this in the Sunday paper for sure. This time of year keep your eyes open, because you never know when you can be a life saving asset.

Be safe, ride hard, and have a great year everyone.

Late start for me, I rode this weekend for the first time. Air was 78 and Water was 62-65 here in NC. Wore a 1mm top and was fine.

You guys are crazy in the 49 degree water. I guess you have to get used to it up north though.

Where do you PA guys ride, more specific, what about guys in the Pittsburgh area?

That wake looks massive! What is the total ballast weight? Sick wetsuits too.
