    thinking of buying a 2002 nautique w/o cleats, etc.

    looking to purchase a 2002 ski nautique 196. it was previously used as a ski club boat and tied to a mooring or pulled therefore there aren't any cleats to tie up on.

    i'll need 2 on each side of the boat but wondering what the scoop is on having retractable cleats installed/added.

    also - any thoughts on a boat that was exclusively used by a ski club for skiing only? it has approx. 500 hrs on it. price tag is $20k.

    appreciate your feedback.

    It's easy enough to install popup our pull out cleats, but it's not necessary.
    One line the ski pylon, and one to the lifting rings onthe rear is all you'll ever need. BKH

      This boat doesn't have lifting rings on the back. All it has is a ring right next to the to entry for the rear light. Does this make sense?

      Also thoughts on buying a boat that was owned by a ski club?

        Center lifting ring works fine.
        I have ordered my last two 196's with the cleats deleted. Shore Station or tied at the dock with two ropes off of the pylon, one towards the front and one towards the back of the 4 X 4's vertically mounted on the dock. Works better than using the cleats .

        I would have no problem buying a club boat provided it was regularly maintained (most are).

          i only have midship pull outs and i wish i had stern ones. i usually end up tying to the back or putting a rope around the ski pylon

              I have the nautique bungee cord off nautiquegear and it's awesome. I put it around the pylon and then over the cleat of the dock and never have any problems. If it's an extended stay, then I can put another around the rear lifting ring.
              I would think club boats would be driven by a pro driver, and well maintained. Probably be a pretty nice boat, but depends on the club.
