Marina charging when water too low?

The lake that we are now on is basically shaped like a saucer and me thinks if you drained it you'd basically have a field with a bit of a dip. Water is down 2' right now and some shoreline is 100' - 150' out. Kinda cuts down on surface area. We pay our Marina in January for the year. They just floated the slips in and ours is currently about 18", not enough for a 211.

How much depth would you consider a safe minimum?

Should we expect a pro-rated refund for the time we're not able to use our slip?

    Thanks,

Are you sayings its 18" deep? I would get a refund personally. Its like using the old dial up internet. your paying for the internet but you can get a line thorugh.

We dont run at anything under 3 foot in our 210.

If the marina is worth its salt something should be worked out>
Is there a waiting list to get a slip?

Previous years, yes. Not sure about this year.

          Well....what does your contract say?

If its a popular location with people waiting for your spot I doubt they will do anything
unless they are an exceptional marina. I wouldn't want to loose my spot because of one
            poor year.

I would never advocate paying for something that you can't use. But how much money are we talking about here? If this is a one-time issue and the level will rise in the next couple months or you risk losing your spot if you don't pay, I would just suck it up and grab it. If this is going to be an issue every season, then I'd look elsewhere. Bottomline, the marina doesn't control the lake level so I wouldn't expect a refund from them, especially if they can rent it out to someone else.

I work on a boat that is moored in the Willamette river in Oregon. The lease on the slip is on an annual basis.
Again, check your contract. See what it says.

Just to be the devil's advocate, is there anything the marina can do about the lake level? Check your contract as everyone else has said, but it seems to me this is like asking the dealer for a partial refund on your boat because the water's too low and you can't use it. I'm in Madison, WI and we've had the opposite problem. Due to flooding the last few springs our lakes have been declared no wake for good parts of the summers. I haven't heard anyone here asking marinas for refunds when their docks are under water. Weather is one of the inherint risks of boating, by participating you accept those risks.
