This is going to step on some toes.
There are some great insurance people out there, but like I said before, INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE IN BUSINESS TO MAKE MONEY!

I would also suggest that the insurance agent is on the side that their paycheck comes from. The insurance agent gets paid by the insurance company, and has to live by the rules that the insurance company places on them. The agent may get a salary from the company, or commissions on each policy they sell, but the agent is still working FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY!

Inboard60, You had to put in some long hours to pay out insurance companies money, not your own personal money, from an ice storm. Is that not your job? Is that not what you signed on to do when you chose this career? Is that not what all these people pay your companies insurance premiums for? How much money did your offices take in last year? There might even be a possibility that your offices did not take in enough to cover those losses from last year's ice storm, but I am sure your offices made enough in previous years to allow this years losses to be covered.

If an insurance agent says "I am on your side", watch your wallet.

This thread exists because of a long delay in getting a boat repaired, that in my opinion, should have been replaced. I believe, had the insurance company that lvnspeed used, replaced his boat, he could be using it right now. It should have been replaced with a boat of "like kind and quality". If not that, it should have been repaired to the condition it was in prior to the loss occurring, in a timely manner. Apparently, neither has happened.

Based on prior experience working in a Correct Craft dealership, and having to repaired insurance covered boats, I would suspect that the insurance company carries the majority of the blame for Lvnspeed not having a boat he can use now, even though he paid insurance premiums, in good faith, believing that "He was in good hands" or they said "I am on your side", or whatever advertising slogan you believe in.

Insurance companies are playing a game of risk. They are experts at it. You generally lose. Just like Vegas, the odds are in the house's favor.

Its been asked how we saw the boat in that dept of water.

Well first of all we didnt see it right way we thought the boat just just stolen.
Then my friend noticed oil bubling up to the surface. I was like NO WAY!
then the more you looked the more the sun came our you could see faintly the red from the boat. Like I said before I called a diver (a neighbor) to go down and see what was there.

He came back up and said the boat was down there, sitting stern down. We then hooked a rope to it and to one of the winches the keeps my dock in place and started cranking it up. When we got close to the surface you could see some lights on on the dash. We then hooked the second winch to the back of the boat and got it to the surface. The bilge pump took over from there. Am I leaving out some detals I am sure I am but I can type for crap.

I am not sure why I am justifing this but I am not a theif or a liar. This is what happened.

I have no idea why the boat totally sank.

Can you select few please stop bashing me?

Boat in 30ft of water. Boat standing on stern. Boat 20ft in length. Bow 10ft below surface. Believable.

I also have my boat insured for more than current market value.

It's sad that people immediately think everyone is lying, scamming, whatever.

Sorry about your boat. I had mine damaged last year due to no fault of my own. Of course, not near as bad and I was back up and going in 4 weeks but those 4 weeks were mid May to mid June.

It's bad enough what happened to your boat without folks calling your character into question with dubios dot connecting.

I personally don't believe Lvn is trying to pull anything....BUT, I can see how if you want to believe that is the case you could come to that conclusion....If you have been on the site a little while
            1) Buys boat for $12,000 talks about it openly (may or may not be true, but this is how it was posted)
            2) Hutson motors chimes in and says no it was 22 to 23K
            3) Tries to sell boat for a while without any takers at $25,000 to purchase open bow he found for $25,000
            4) Boat disappears to be found on the bottom of the lake (some think its a little too needle in a haystack but I could see how 10' from the surface it could be seen)
            5) Insurance Claim filed and drug out (possibly meaning a lengthy investigation in some eyes).

Lvn, I don't question your ethics one Iota, maybe you embellish a little you know like the guy at the gym who says he can bench 350 when its more like 180...Quite frankly if somebody asks me on the dock what I paid for my boat its none of their @#$%#$# business. Its the posts and timeline that have some scratching their heads...I think its just a bad coincidence. Let's cut him some slack. If it was my boat I would be pissed to be without it. Good luck...Progressive just dissapointed me on another matter, hopefully you have better results with your claim and company.

Remaining question....Why did the Nautique sink completely? This is once thought not to happen. Could I expect my boat battery to pump the bilge for three days? I have not ever tried and would be curious to know.

I believe there was a recall for some of the Ski Nautiques made around the time lvnspeed's boat was made, for installation of additional flotation in the bow, and trunk. It is also possible that water could work into some voids, and make the boats when swamped have negtivative buoyancy.
Trust me, water will come in the hole in the bilge faster than the bilge pump can pump it out.
I would not count on my bilge pump running steady for three days, without discharging the battery.

I'm not really sure I understand the big secret about the purchase price of a boat. If someone asks the question I'll gladly tell them the cost they can be purchased for. In my case I'll tell them what an 06 SANTE can be purchased for today and what they were selling for in 06. Maybe I missed the secret club owners nautique if you have to ask you cant afford handshake agreement on the purchase order.

I put this type of question into the same category as the following, which all irritate the expletive out of me...For me its not a "Nautique Club" thing but a stop being such a nosey douche thing...
                      1) After someone sees my house I am asked "what I do for a living"
                      2) Many family members have asked "what I make in salary"
                      3) Complete strangers have asked "what my house cost"

I think Ryan Creek most likely to blame here. The insurance folks I talked to stated that they want a detailed estimate before they will total it.. I suspect this is the problem. as hard as it has been for people to get work done at Ryan Creek, I can easily imagine them dragging feet on something like this. Tow it to Blue Creek on Martin.

                            Lynspeed,

First, I am not trying to be harsh at all, but here is what I find confusing:

                            (1) In your first post on this thread, you indicate that you took the boat to Ryan Creek on 1/25/09, two days after you pulled it out of the lake. Thus, I assume you pulled it out of the lake on 1/23/09.

                            (2) Looking back in the classified section, I see that you advertised your boat for trade on 1/22/09, and you poseted updates on 1/23/09, 1/25/09, and 1/28/09.

                            (3) You then had a second classified ad, this time for sale not trade, that you posted on 2/2/09, with updates posted on 2/4/09, 2/10/09, and 2/16/09.

In your ads, you state that the boat " is in PERFECT shape ".

Do you see why I and some others might be confused? I know I may be missing some of the details, but I am having a hard time understanding the timeline.

asking a total stranger how much something costs is rude. anyone with manners should know that. however; IMO, if you are persons with common interests like comparing wake/ski boats at the launch or close friends i see no issue with $ questions, but would you walk up to a woman and ask her what she paid for her boobs? or the depreciated current value.

Not a criticism of lvnspeed, but just a curiosity. He said that after 3 days on the bottom of the lake that as they were pulling it up he could see lights on on the dash. When I would do audio and lighting for festivals it wouldn't take too much of a puddle to short stuff out if any conductor was at all exposed. Could the batteries still have a charge after being underwater 3 days (I assume terminals are waterproof)? Wouldn't they have shorted out? Or run down after driving bilge pumps for 3 days straight? Could they successfully provide power to dash lights?
