I looked extensively into finding a rental place that would rent me a vehicle to tow a boat. I wanted to fly from NW Illinois to Southern LA and drive the boat back. The rental deal just can't be done...unless you get one of the BIG trucks like previously stated.

I suppose you could rent a truck/suv then buy a wiring harness and ball to tow from the bumper...but you are on your own if a crash happens. In the end, myself and a friend drove the 14 hrs down there, tested the boat and did some skiing, then drove the 14 hrs back. Long trip, but was pretty fun for the most part.

Bimmer, I just had my 2007 236 shipped from lake wales, fl to South Jordan, ut. It cost one dollar per mile. $2350. I weighed all the things you are talking about, and at the end of the day, I thought I could save about 600 dollars to get it myself, but the weeks worth of time away from work, flight, rental, etc. Wasn't worth it to me. I had the dealer help mhttp://www.planetnautique.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=posting&mode=reply&t= 14093e find someone to bid on the shipment... I can find out what service/website he used... Not to give you heartburn, but my boat was supposed to get here just after 3 days, it ended up taking 18 days... broken truck in the middle of Texas twice, fuel pump, injectors, you name it. The dealer has shipped boats all over the country, but this one took the cake. Anyways, we didn't have to choose the shipper we did, Diamond J Transports, but they said they could have it to us quicker than the other shipper the dealer had used in the past. Anyways, happy hunting. What boat are you getting?

My old school SN is going to be ready in a couple weeks just getting it perfect. Do you live in UT or you ride somewhere warmer.

We've been riding Utah Lake. Super close for us (35 minutes to ramp). We live in South Jordan.

I have used U-ship...worked great. Was able to have a boat shipped 850 miles for about $600....and that was when gas was peaked last summer.
                  Peace..

I live in Herriman and also go to sewer lake. Do you go to Pelican bay or Provo or American Fork?
