    Ballast Switches

I am finishing up my ballast install and need to place the three Jabsco switches. I have one of two places that I can mount them. Since it is a cut once never go back deal I figured I would get some opinions from those who may already be using something similar. I have seen other placements, but wanted to keep my Coast Guard plaque.

I outlined in pencil in the pic the two places I can place them. I liked the lower spot, but was worried they may be hard to get too if you want to adjust Port/Starboard on the fly. Thought the seat might be too much in the way.

Anyway, either spot will work, just figured I would get some educated opinions.

    RE: Ballast Switches

I made a little metal plate and mounted mine below the gunnel pad where the original ballast valve knobs were mounted. They are mounted just below where yours are going to be.

Mine are where my USCG tag used to be. I will see how well that goes over this summer. I like them there as they are easy to access and they look like they belong there. I have a heater so where you penciled yours in would not have worked for me. I will try and go get a picture tomorrow.

          Thanks wake_fun.

I have the space to fit it in one of those two spots without having to remove my Coast Guard plaque so those are the two places I was trying to decide between. I was just checking to see if anyone that had put it in the lower spot regretted it or thought they became hard to get too.

Believe me....I know your thread well!!! When all is done you and bchesley will recognize a lot of similarities. This forum has saved me a lot of guess work. I appreciate everyones posts so I will most certainly be posting my finished product.

I first had them mounted like you show, if you look in my ballast install 1 thread. Look up under there and you will see a big fiberglass support. I remember having to cut a lot to fit the switches there. And yes, it was more of a pain having them a little behind you............that's when I said screw it and redid that entire panel.
