I'm sure this has been discussed before but here it is again. Which cruise control is better for slalom skiing Perfect Pass Star Gazer or Zero Off. The price difference has me leaning toward PP is there a reason for the cost difference? I have an '07 CC 206.

ZO is the way to go if you are a tourney skier. If not, stick with PP classic unless you have the cash to blow.Life long Nautique guy

RE: PP Stargazer vs. Zero Off Cruise Control
causeway,
ZO is what you will get for speed control at tourneys as we move forward. 09 will see mostly ZO with a few SG from some of the 2008 Promo malibus and MC that have SG in them. For 09, the big 3 all have ZO in their boats.
So if you are practicing for a tourney, the best bet is ZO. If not, pp classic is fine. Also, ZO upgrades are easy to deal with when new programs come out. I dont know the cost of PP vs SG but to me, SG makes no sense if ZO is there. ZO is also very easy to use and deal with.Life long Nautique guy

Advantages to ZO.
1. Easy for wife to drive
2. pull is what you get at tourneys
3. No magnets needed in course
4. No dealing with segment times being off and you dont need crew weights.
5. Easy upgrades.Life long Nautique guy

I have skied behind both. For me ZO all the way. Easy to install and operate. upgrading is easier-must have access to a patch cord that connects with the ECM unit and a laptop computer. One question I have is whether or not you will be skiing in a slalom course or not? It sounds like you will be and in that case I wouldn't hesitate in investing in ZO. The comment made about resale is dead on. I think anyone(course skier) looking at a DBW boat will expect it to have ZO.2012 200 Team 409

ZO is the same system that is used in most tournys. The advantage of having it in your boat is that you can train with the same pull, so you can get used to it. There is a difference in pulls between PPSG and ZO.
ZO is totally GPS based, no need for timers, magnets, magnet pickups, etc. PPSG will still need a magnet.
If you have never had either system, there will be a learning process to both. If you have had PP in the past, it may be easier for you to use. Ask your ski buddies what system they would get in their boat.
If you take your boat to many different course and have tourney skiers in your boat, ZO would seem to make more sense. Make your buddies pitch in to cover some of the cost difference.
