    230 set up for surfing

How does everyone set up their ballast for surfing? I have different combos of stuff. All tanks, port and belly and just port. From what I can tell filling all the tanks seems to work the best.

Also, everyone I have taken out is able to surf without a problem. But when I get back there and try and drop the rope I can't. For some reason I can't seem to find the sweet spot where the wave pushes me. I don't know if it is because I am a lot bigger than anyone else and I need a bigger wave or what is going on. I am about 6’2 250 and riding a CWB Ride.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Can't help on the boat set up, but as far as you being able to surf I can give you my opinion. First, you'll need a longer board, maybe something in the 5' 10" to 6' range. Second, you will want to add a bit more weight/ballast/people in the bow and test out different boat speeds. More weight in the front will help lengthen the wake and the speed will help keep you in the sweet spot.

I'm a bigger guy (235 lbs.) and I spent a lot of last year frustrated because, like you, I wasn't able to drop the rope. This year we've moved more weight to the front and upped the boat speed to the 10.5-11.5 mph range. I've noticed a big difference. Wake surfing is a lot of trial and error, and testing out different set ups. Hope that helps.

We run a 750lb fat sac in the rear surf side and a 750lb sac in the bow.
Stock surf side ballast full and belly stock ballast full.
The CWB Ride is ok, you just need more weight IMO.

I had the same problem last year also. Longer board and more weight made it much easier! The sweet spot is now MUCH bigger. check out the the I posted with the size of my wake......it sick!

Belly full, Port Full, Starboard half full, slight turn to port and about 9.5 mph. Using a Red Woody Inland Surfer board, which I think is a 6' board.

belly tank full, surf side tank full, 750lb sack on surf side, 150 lbs lead in floor locker, 500 lb sack in floor locker, v sack under the bow seats. toying w/ getting another 750 to sit on the surf side seat. speed is 11 plus mph.

dizzy and i are easily surfing w/ 2k pounds more than you. being a bigger guy, you are going to need to go faster, which means your are going to need more weight to keep your wave size. i would also look at getting a custom board shaped (your CWB ride is hurting you more than helping you). the guy whom shaped my board took my height, weight, boat setup and skill level into account when he shaped my board. he has the dimensions saved in a CNC CAD file so as my slayshing grows, he can use my previous shape as stepping stone for new boards. for what its worth, i am 200lbs and shred a 4'5" board. i can air it and do 360s.

pm me if you want to know whom does the custom boards...he shapes both ocean and lake boards and makes the fastest boards i have ever ridden.

We recently got away for a long weekend and spent nearly all of it surfing due to excessive people and rougher water. Was good though as we got try out a few different set ups.

The best set up we got was all tanks full (whichever side we weren't surfing on only 3/4 full), a Fly hi tube sac in the rear locker, a fly hi fat brick on the floor in the rear corner and another tube sac in the walkway.

It had a really long wave with a solid size section that was easy to maintain forward momentum. Here is a pic of what it looked like from the riders perspective, but as always it doesn't give the wave justice. it was so much fun and was so easy to stay on

Why are you on the starboard side ? I was told with the prop rotation the wake is better on the port side.
I am new to surfing any input would be appreciated I have a 08 210.

06 has the old school trans that gives us the prop rotationthat makes the starboard side the best !! Yours prob has the newer trans that turns the prop like most other boats !! Mine gives that special goofy footer in ur family his or her surfin fix !!!: )

Nautiquehunter, we surf both sides with no problems on my 09 210. Port is a little better because of prop rotation but it is not that much different. We use stock ballast, 240 lbs of pop bags in the nose, and bodies.

N-Hunter, he is on the starboard side because he rides goofy, nothing more than that. I also ride goofy on my 08 210, here is a pic of with a decent amount of weight....with 680lbs in the starboard locker, 625 in the middle, and 3 adults.
