who has boom on 206 w/tower?

Can anyone comment on what boom they use on a 206 or 216 with a tower?

    Have any pics?

RE: who has boom on 206 w/tower?

I currently use the BI curved boom. But, I also have a spare boom that is a BI straight and it works also. I also highly recommend the adjustment attachment that allows you to quickly pull a pin, slide the end of the boom up or down for various different people sizes.

Got a 216 & running a BI straight boom from the ski pylon.
Could've gone with a curved one, but found straight one cheaper.
The boom exits the boat a few inches before the rear tower mount.

I've you're going to use the boom every time you're out, might be worth going for the curved one as the straight one limits the maneuverability for those in the boat, but for <6x/yr, can go with straight just fine.
As far as the adjustment piece...you can either buy one, or reposition body weight in the boat. I'm doing the later, however one advantage of having the adjuster would be that I could mount the bracket on the skipylon a bit lower --- it has been known to snag some shorts in the past (though maybe I just need to keep the pin in the boom & not in the bracket when the boom is off-water).

I'm aware of booms that attach directly to the tower, but everyone I know says they are a PIA to mess with.

Thanks for the pics BigBald. I zoomed in on one and I'm pretty sure you are in a 216. I was in my 206 today and was thinking the boom might hit the tower. But there is probably room. I don't think I would be able to put the driver's seat all the way back. Can you?

Also, are you clamping directly on your pylon? ...or do you have a separate adapter post?

Are you using the BI clamp that shows to come with the boom?

My 206 use to have a tower and we used a straight boom as Bigbald has pictured... no problems. The boom may have been pushed a bit forward due to the tower, but i thought this was better than using a bent boom, which put me too far back and spray was sometimes an issue.

I use the BI curved boom on my 206. I think it fits perfect because the boom actually rests on the rear leg mount of the tower instead of on the gel coat. Sorry I don't have any pics, but that is the one I would recommend for your 206 as well.

your right...I should have clarified that I have a 216. I used to have a 99 sport, and the boom went behind the tower, but in this boat, it's inside the tower mounts. I should also note, that I prefer to add a life jacket or a throw cushion between the boom and the seat. This seems to decreas the potential damage that the boom can cause from bouncing and bucking around after someone drops off.

I am about 6'-6"....and I have had the dealer move my seat back a couple inches. So, my seat won't go all the way back when the boom is on. But, I still have plenty of room. Much more than I had with my 99 sport. There are some days where I spend 6 to 9 hours driving with the boom on....so, it's enough room to live thru that type of day.

I have the adjuster becuase I spend a lot of time teaching students from our church. And they are of such different body sizes and weights, I need to keep adjusting up and down. I also use the folks in the boat to fine tune the boom height...especially when we are working in the barefoot trapeze.

I used the BFI Deluxe straight boom on my Air 216 before I sold it. No problems, it worked perfectly.

I use a BI curved on my 216 Air TE. I use it on the passenger side though.

i put my straight barefoot boom on my new 206 with tower just yesterday.....no problems. I am going to try to put it behind the drivers seat next time. My four year old does great on the boom and wants to ski.....a lot. The only difficulty I had with the boom is putting the boom together and then fishing the boom out without dropping it in the water. I can do this myself but an extra hand would make it a bit easier.
                    cheers
