I installed it in May. I like it better than the previous version (101P). The pull is softer depending on the setting you use. Everything else is pretty much the same. If you haven't installed it yet I suggest you update your version.

Thank you so much! I requested the update this morning and will order the cable. Is the real deal as the chart states and the A1 setting provides the softest pull???

        I found this at thewaterskiforum.com

'moment of load.' The boat does not know to do anything until it senses it's speed slowing down. This 'moment' could be right out of the buoy, behind the boat, or free skiing. It's just when you start to slow the boat down. Once that moment of load occurs, the boat must compensate by increasing RPMs. How it does that is where we get the ABC123.
The letters (A, B, C) are the difference in time where the boat starts to increase RPM. 'A' will have the most delay and 'C' will have the least. This means at the moment of load, C will start increasing RPMs the quickest, while 'A' will have the largest delay.
The numbers (1, 2, 3) are the intensity and duration of the RPM increase. '1' will have the smallest amount of RPM increase, but for the longest duration (long and soft). '3' will have the highest RPM increase, but for a short duration (short and hard).
        Some examples:
A1: Will have a delay after you start pulling. It will have a long soft pull.
A3: Will have a delay after you start pulling. It will have a short hard pull.
C1: Will start pulling right after you do. It will have a long soft pull.
C3: Will start pulling right after you do. It will have a short hard pull.

          lol, that looks familiar!

Along with my description above, I created a graph. Be warned though, this is just my theory based on experience and talking with others. It is NOT verified with ZO.

            Dave,

I tried to post your pic with my previous post but it said it was too big. Great post by the way. It makes a lot of sense to me.

Thanks again qstufflebeam and ClemsonDave. May I impose another question? It's probably a dumb one but since ZO has nothing in the Operation Manual that came with my unit and nothing I can find on their website or in the online PDF version of the January 2009 User Manual, here goes:
How easy or hard will it be to plug in the eComm Update Cable?

ClemsonDaves graphs are great aren't they??!!

I did previously did a write up as well and can be found here: www.schnitzskis.com/zerooff

It seems long winded but there is a lot of information out there.

When you download the software update for your head unit there are instructions that come with the software download that describe the process. It is fairly easy to do once you get the instructions.

When I download the files, I don't get any instructions. Where are the instructions found? If somebody has them, can you post them? I have access to an ECOM cable for only a couple of days, and I don't want to screw anything up by doing the update wrong...

Anyone be willing to loan me a cable for a couple days? I'll pay all shipping costs. The guy I ski with just got a '09 Malibu with P101 and I'd like to upgrade. He could care less so he doesn't want to deal with the dealer. I have a SN with Stargazer, but will be skiing with his boat quite a bit.

                        Thanks,

Justin has a good idea. Anybody wanna start a loaner program with your Ecom cable? That would probably pay for itself very quickly.

Oh, and as a side note about my update process, found out this morning from Zero-Off that my dealer gave me the wrong cable. that was why I was not able to connect to do the upgrade. So typical...
