New prop has grinding marks on the back of two blades?

Got my new prop today from ACME. It is a 1236. When I opened the box I noticed the back of two blades appear to have grinder marks on them. The CNC machine marks are ground down. Anyone see this before, is it for balancing?

I sent the same question to ACME.

Yes, that is how they balance the prop.

Its for balance. They do a nice job of it compared to my original prop (tacod it on a stump). My prop had circular grinds in it the size of dimes at odd points, it looked like a real hack job, but it was smooth.

I may be wrong but doesnt your boat have left hand prop rotation? I thought the newer boats were left hand. I have the 1236 on my 01 SAN which is right hand, and it is awesome!! Night and day difference when sacked out!

If so, that thing is going to go really fast in reverse.

I just thought that the newer boats had changed to LH rotation. I know my buddies 06 210 is LH so I assumed the 220 in your picture was LH as well. Guess I was wrong. Where are you in California? Im in Santa Barbara.

Seth has an interesting point - I was under the same impression that for 06 and newer all the v drives went to left hand.
Pretty sure all the 06's are.

OK you guys have me freaked out but........
The prop I took off and the one I put on are the same direction and the boat went forward when I took it out with the old prop ;-)

I'll let you know this weekend when I slowly put it in reverse to back it off the trailer

On the 06 boats only the 210 had a left hand prop because it was the first year for the PCM built v-drive and all the other v-drive boats had the walters v-drive. The PCM v-drive does not change the direction of the motor but the walters unit does. In all of the 07 and newer boats has PCM unit is used in all the boats, so they have the left hand props.

Did you bUy from ACME direct or Delta? It sure was nice to get the Planet nautique 20% discount on my 1235. Just packing up by "dinged" original to get it redone at Delta.
