Cool, how much weight did you add over stock? How many people/weight in the crew? We tried it last year on a friend's 216 (04, so should have the same prop rotation), and we couldn't do it with stock ballast and 2 adults, 2 kids plus driver. I was using the IS Red, so should have been a little more foregiving than your Blue...

We did it last weekend with no extra ballest, two adults and a driver. It was fine at about 9.5 mph. 2005 216 - Excalabur 330.

Two more sacks in the back might help it more, but for us it was fine.

Hey, watch the fuel air vent on the 216's. My 07 216TE has it starboard (driver side) below rub rail. Don't want to get water in the gas.

I've surfed behind my 216 as well...works well with 7-8 people in the boat. Somewhere between 9.0 & 10.5 depending on boat people weight & surfer weight works well. I find having people as far back & far to the side as possible works really well.

We regularly surf behind my 06 216. Speed is 9.5 - 9.8 (perfect pass), stock ballast filled on surf side, as many people as we can convince to come with us. I have a 5'8" board which is fine. My buddies 5'11" board is easier to learn on.

With enough weight and a big enough board you should be able to. I surf behind my DD AN all the time. My daughter can surf with the stock ballast only(400lb) on an Inland Surfer Green Room. I need at least 1000lbs total ballast on the same board.
