Okay talk me out of this

So in my area there are two boat that I'm considering:

One is a 2008 new MB Sports B52 V23 with 343 engine for 47 otd from a dealer 200 miles from my house

The other is a demo 2008 230 limited edition without PP and 343 engine with 40 hours for 70 otd from a dealer 10 miles from my house.

What would you do. Is the 230 really worth it?

RE: Okay talk me out of this

Have you driven both? Which one do you like better? Which one serves your particular needs better? How do you think each will be 5 years from now? How do you think resale will be? What issues might you have getting service 10 miles away vs 200? How do the warranties compare? Which dealer do you like better and what kind of reputation does each have? Have you tried negotiating with each for a bottom dollar price? Why do you think there is such a big difference in price?

The 230 turns a little better, but both pull nice and have great wakes. I think the 230's fit and finish is slightly better. The ballast system on the MB is much better. 5 years from now I imagine the 230 would be a little nicer but I'm pretty anal and will keep any boat I own very nice. Resale would probably be a little better with the 230 but if we go by today numbers the 230 would resale for 40ish and the MB for 30-35ish (12-17 thousand vs 25 to 30 thousand hit) in 5 years. I can get the engine serviced at the local dealer since they are both PCM. The MB was a repo from a dealer that went out of business and the nautique dealer here gets the price so they won't budge off that price (that is already a 2000 discount that I would have to be very serious about before the salesman would even talk to the GM)

So if you are asking people on a Nautique forum to talk you out of this, then I guess you've already made up your mind. Unless, of course, you've posted the same exact thing on an MB forum??

Sounds like the bu is the boat for you. Me? I sleep well at night knowing I have a Nautique. Sometimes a really great deal or what you think is a really great deal comes along and you can choose to compromise for the better deal. Maybe you can buy the bu, enjoy it for a year or two or three, and then buy a 2008 CC. If the CC is going to take the hit that you expect relative to the bu you'd be getting in to a CC pretty cheap.

you will be dissappointed in the performance of the 230 with the small motor if you are gonna weight it at all. That boat in a limited will not hold its value as well as a team edition and you will have to add perfect pass. That dealer is not giving you a good deal at all. I have a fully loaded team edition 236 which is the same boat as the 230 with the zr6 and illusion trailer with 20's that I would make you a heck of a deal on. warranty transfers and has only 80 hours on her. Mint condition.

Let me tell you this from a guy who is closing on a 2009 230 SAN TE that is fully loaded and has the ZR6 - 70K out the door for that used 08 230 Limited is NOT a good deal in this market. PM me and I can direct you to some fully loaded 2008 230 SAN TE with ZR6s that are brand new that you can get for about that or less. (I know of a few since I checked out all options before I struck a deal on the 2009).

I know of a brand new 2007 (yes 7) 226 team for less than 60. 2007 is the old style.

                      It is at a dealer.

I'm with the guys here... 70K for a limited with 343 engine is NOT a good price. For 70K you should at least have a Team and you really want the ZR-6 on that boat..

Pass this 230 and look for another one ;-) ..
