    1980 or 1981?

i just bought a 1980 or 1981 ski nautique... here are the pics... http://www.aurorafxstudios.com/album_nautique/

my problem is i dont know whether it is a 1980 or a 1981... im assuming 1980 by looking at the serial number. it is ****blah**80L-SNK

im guessing the "80" in the serial number means its a 1980? is there any other way to tell the 80 from the 81?

    thanks

By serial number, do you mean the HIN? If so, then yes, it is an 80. It will be the last 2 numbers at the end of the string.

whats the HIN? im looking at the number at the back of the boat, in the corner right under the trim. its a number... i cant remember exactly what it is but it looks something like this C098780L-SNK. i know the last 6 digits are definately "80L-SNK".

HIN aka Hull Identification Number is right where you described it. yes it is an 80.
        I don\'t care.

          ok, thank you very much!

          you're sure it's an '80?

(also, i've heard that the 1981 year was the 20th anniversary edition... and theres no markings saying "20th anniversary"...... where would it say 20th anniversary?)

Our 88 starts with CC and ends with all numbers, so I am not 100% yours is an 80, but I would bet money on it.
            I don\'t care.

Well the '86 is the 25th Anniversary, so if my math is correct, the '81 is the 20th Anniversary.

HIN for 89s. First 3 digits are the manufacturer's code (CTC is Correct Craft.) The next five are the serial numbers, no two are alike. The following digit A-L designates the month of manufacture ( A= Jan, B= Feb, etc) After this is three more numbers. The first is the last digit of the year of manufacture and the final two numbers state the model year. If the boat was built during September thru December, the final two numbers will show a number one year higher than the year of manufacture.
Stickers get removed and added over time. The HIN will tell you wether your boat is an 80 or 81.
