How to brush carpet

I just bought a 2003 SAN 210 TE from a lady in California and had it shipped to Dallas TX. The boat is in great condition with only 44 hours. The only thing that doesnt look brand new is the carpet. There arent any stains but it looks like the sun/heat made the carpet really hard!! I noticed some of the posts that boat owners brush the carpet.
How do you do that?

u can power wash it to fluff it up--brush it while it is good and wet

just let it dry really well before u cover or store it!!!

I know some who claim to have had success with a highly concentrated mixture of downy and water sprayed onto the carpet and left for 15 minutes or so before rinsing. I did it once and the results were marginal (probably needed a higher concentration and longer contact time). Worst case scenario, your carpets smell really nice.
