    no waves......

this weekend i went to central texas and did a 2 day "lake tour" with a buddy of mine--

we hit Lake Marble Falls, LBJ, Granger, and headed north on Sunday and hit the Brazos in waco...

lake austin is LOW as well as Travis---we ate dinner friday night on Travis, lots and lots of islands showing!!

point to my thread.......i passed over 10 Nautiques, some of them multiple times and being a friendly Texas guy i waved each time---only 1 waved back after the 3 pass!! on my local lake everbody does the "inboard wave"!!!!! the middle of Texas and i cant even get a "Nautique wave"!!!!!! no nautiques on the Brazos but everybody waves on that portion of the river!!! nice feeling when the guy in the brand new X2 comes over to oooh and aaah over the SANTE 220!!!

    we had a great time!!!

    RE: no waves......

At our lake, pretty much everybody waves regardless of what kind of boat they have (pontoon, bass boat, runabout, inboard, etc.). Main thing is that you had a great time!

        RE: no waves......

If I waved at everyone on our lake when I passed I'd be doing nothing but waving the whole day. I'll wave back at folks, but never initiate. OTOH when we were surfing yesterday we did wave at a few folks, some of whom weren't too happy with our waving.

Lake Travis is very low, but Lake Austin is a constant level lake (unless flood conditions) so not sure you were on Lake Austin.
Of the lakes in the highland chain, Lake Travis and Buchanan are the ones that fluctuate a lot. Inks, LBJ, Marble Falls, and Austin are essentially constant level unless it's flooding.

I waved at another nautique this morning on Lake Austin. They waved back, but it was my friend.
Usually people wave back on Lake Austin.

We wave at everyone on this end of Texas. I grew up skiing on LBJ and was taught this behavior there. When you were on Travis, did you have a look at the Pedernales? I imagine it's not usable given the levels on Travis, but curious.

The Pedernales has been unusable since the end of 2008. Lake Travis will probably have all the public ramps shutdown by this weekend.

We have been boating for 25 plus years we never had very many waves untill we got our new dog.
He is truly a water hound now we get waves from everybody who could resist a yellow lab.
My recommendation bring the dog they will break the ice.

Bummer. We had some pretty nice runs through there about five years ago. I think it was kind of a freak year though. We were able to go a long way up river.

no doubt. i once had a good looking girl on the boat (only once, because i have no game), and she was insistant about not only waving buy vocally greeting every boat that went by. on lake austin that is about every 15 feet or so. i almost threw her in the water...the annoyance factor was through the roof.

Haha...classic. Just goes to show that just because they're hot, you don't necessarily want them on the boat with you...

We were at Lake Anna in Va last week
Nice lake flat calm all week
The kids and I wave all the time. It's part of the fun for the day
Funny thing the weakebaord boats in lake Anna never waved back
All the other boats waved most of them when we were wakeboarding would stop tubing until we were done
All had a great time us wakeboarding and the tubers
                              Great time would go back
