    Custom Paint Question...

Just wondering if anyone knows how much extra a "custom" paint job on a new nautique adds to the price of the boat?

My family has a '66 Skylark in seafoam green and would love to get a new 196 or 211 painted in that color. (Hull and Deck Seafoam green and white interior and white accent stripe on the hull.)

When I took the tour of the factory several years ago they said they could do it.

The 66 has been on the lake for 38 years and we have folks stop by every year, when we put it in for the season. One woman said, "Summer doesn't start till the green boat goes in the water." We'd love to upgrade to a new boat and keep the color.

    Thanks!

    The answer is: $0.00

I spent the better part of two months along with my dealer trying to get CC to do a custom gel coat color. I called the factory directly. My request was not as drastic as yours, I wanted an old CC gel coat color.

After the initial factory response of "how dare you" wore off (6 weeks) they boiled it down to a simple NO WAY!

Unlike other manufacturer's CC does have a problem with the customer "having it their way."

Still have not recieved my welcome to the CC family post card, the tee shirt or the "customer satisfaction survey."

I'd call CC and make sure that you are registered with Correct Craft as owning your boats. If you didn't receive the shirts and the surveys, you probably also won't receive recall iformation either. Give them a call and they can check on it.

Did get my steering recall notice in the mail..... :?

Figure if I can pay for my 210....I can buy a CC t-shirt if needed. I would feel a bit foolish calling them and making a stink about a $10 freebee.

I spent over $50k to get the T-Shirt. Seriously, I was going to trade a guy the t-shirt for one of those giant "NAUTIQUE ONLY" graphics to put on my bug guard.

              Icap,

I'm sorry to hear CC gave you such a hard time.

When I was on the tour of the factory I asked Jeff Warner if they'd paint a new boat like our old 66 and he said, "Obviously we'd have to charge for it, but short of compromising quality we'll do just about anything a customer wants." I'm very sorry to hear they've changed that philosophy!

If you don't mind me asking, what color were you looking to put on your boat?

We love the seafoam green. It has faded a bit, but still looks nice. I think CC only offered it for a few years in the 60s. Though we talked to Craig Warner of NECC at a boat show several years ago and he said they did offer it as an optional color one year. I guess we missed the boat! (Pun intended!)

              Thanks for the info!

My free T-shirt has faded and is starting to get some holes in it. I guess that means it is time to buy a new boat.

Custom color might depend on when you order the boat. Several years ago (90's) a friend wanted to order a custom color Mastercraft. Factory was willing to do it...provided the order was placed early in the model year, meaning the fall. Seems that they bunched custom orders together and did them all at the same time regardless of what colors were being ordered. At that time a lot of waterski clubs were using Mastercrafts and were getting boats to match either existing colors or a team theme.

I wanted the boat to remind me of summer. My son has two Polo Ralph Lauren t-shirts. One is a perfectly faded out yellow and the other is a perfectly faded out blue. When they said yellow is too difficult to match for gelcoat repairs I requested the blue. Either would have been perfect for the secondary stripe.

MC offered any custom color I wanted for $600 upcharge. Did not like MC's service department in my neighborhood or I would have purchased it.

Does not matter when you place the order for a CC. I worked on the colors from October through February. CC is customer oriented as long as its THEIR WAY. As my dealer put it: "it was an act of congress to get them to ship the graphics seperate."

I settled for the simplist color scheme possible white with grey primary. So I only have two colors on the boat.

My thoughts exactly  Same reason I'm not getting the Customer Satisfaction Survey. I've loved my Sport Nautique and Super Air for 10 years but I also think CC needs to improve in a few areas.

The competition is not too far behind.

The competition is right there my friend. I love my Nautique and am loyal. But I've had a chance to ski behind and ride in the competition this summer and they are nice boats as well. I would be happy with either a MC or a Bu. CC needs to continually strive to do things better. I'll say this: we don't have a dealer here in Colorado--as I've posted many times. CC is stepping up though and letting me take my boat to the dealer of my choosing for warranty work. So far, so good.

On the same subject, I never received a t-shirt, customer survey, or recall notices. I wonder if its because I bought a promo boat.

                        Over.
