All right all you Ski Nautique 200 people. I’m in Orlando on a business trip and brought the wife (the wife comment will mean more later). So we get into Orlando a little early and had a couple hours to kill. So I DRAGGED the wife over to CC to look at boats. I haven’t really seen any being there isn’t a CC dealer in Pittsburgh. You all know I’m taking one for the PN team as the wife is giving me the EVIL eye the whole way there.
So we stop in unannounced and as expected CC was all too happy to show Jen and I around the plant. Dave H (won’t say his screen name) shows us around the 200. Before I know it Matt T one of the 200 lead designers is going through the boat with us. We were able to see 3 open bow and 2 closed bow units, neither had all the interior in them, but was able to go through the boats. First the bottom is different then any N I have ever seen. Personally I think it is going to ride smoother in the water based on the shape of the V. I can also see how the wake is going to be flatter. Now the stern is not completely flat, it has some v and pockets and relief pockets. The interior is well defined. I wasn’t sure about the speaker placement until I talked with Matt and he told me about the designing and testing that went into it. Clarion CMD6 head units all installed. The bow was big enough to accommodate my 5’9 body easy and the why the speakers are done in the bow, great. THE boat is wider and will have more room around the motor. The side storage will fit (3) 72” skis with double highs. Pull out rear seat was nicely done or at least better then anything they have had in the past.
Also I think I was told you can get a Roswell boat on the 200 OB. Don’t hold me to this one.
The closed bow was equally as good with all the storage upfront. All you traditionalist will love it..
Now for the best part, wait of it, ITS NOT A LINER BOATS. BUILT FLOOR UP LIKE THE 196,206,216.
I have to say and I’m not in the market for a course type boat, the 200 will become their flag ship boat in 2010. Great job CC.
Ok so now I’m really starting to get the look from the wife being it 100 degrees in the plant, and then I realize we need to look at the 226 new version and they had 2 to see. I won’t good into much, but it looked like the bigger 216V. Well done and the built quality great.
So we are on the way out the door and I notice a 210 with the metal flake. All I can say is it is not as flashy as the MC and BU crap, but more elegant and my next boat will be metal flake.
Couple things I noticed.
New style tower on the 211
LOTS OF BOATS GETTING THAT COMPUTER THING.
2 truck loads of boats going down the road.
The plant was not full and they are building 3 boats a day. All the workers we did talk to had an extremely positive attitude. They are proud to be still building the finest ski boats made.
I notice all the styles coming down the line except the 196 (can’t see why you would want one now with the 200 coming) 206 and 216, but I was assured they will all be in the 2010 line-up.
Meet Ron Nice, great guy. I have talked to him a couple times, but this was the first face to face.
They also didn’t give me a new style owner’s bag.
All and all I can’t say I seen anything that disappointed me.
