    SAN cooler soulutions

I just purchased a 03 SANTE and I'm looking for a cooler. I know the built-in ice chests dont really work, so I was looking for something that would fit or mount in one of those spaces. I would also be open to a small hard ice chest mounted in one of the rear lockers. I'm only looking to hold a 6-pack, but it needs to stay cold all day. Whatever I do, I dont want it to take any floor space and i dont have much room under the left seat. Show me what you guys have done.

If all you want to hold is a 6-pack then use the factory cooler on the passenger side. I insulated the cavity the insert sits in with that spray foam you can get at home stores. I will warn you though, it takes a lot of that stuff to even get it half way full of foam. I thought it would expand more than it did. I think it took 4 cans to half way fill the cavity. I did notice a difference in how long the ice stays in the cooler though. If all you put in is a 6-pack, than you should be able to stick enough ice in there to last a day.

You can also fit a six pack in the cooler in the bow in that boat. I always found that that cooler held ice the best, but it is pretty small.

I was wondering if anyone had ever spray foamed the passenger side cooler on an 03! Every time I use it condensation collects in the bottom and slowly leaks out through the screw holes in the bottom. If I don't take a cup holder out and soak up the water my carpet starts to smell! Has anyone else had any success with this?

Igloo makes some soft coolers that are Max Cold. the one I had stores 24 cans and has a hard plastic liner inside of it that can be removed. it is awesome and fits nicely under the seats of my 230. it is blue and i got it at Bass Pro Shops.

Is the 03's interior is the same as 06's? If so, I modified the passenger side cooler so that it is no longer a removable thing. The space wasted there is massive. Mine now will fit approx 2x cases of beer + 2-3 kgs of ice. plenty to keep everything cold all day. Let me know if you want some pics.

            cheers

I still get water collecting in the cavity below the cooler. It usually stays in there and I just vaccume it out with a wet/dry. I've gotten to where I don't use that cooler much anymore. I just sit a normal cooler in the floor somewhere. More room to hold drinks and they stay cooler longer.

I know it is not what your looking for, but we use one of the Igloo cubes and bungy cord it to the middle of the back swim deck. It stays out of the way and adds extra weight to the back of the boat.

RE: Re: RE: SAN cooler soulutions

Thanks for the help! It was important for me to have a good cooler without taking up valuable storage or floor space. After reading the replies I decided to insulate the passenger side cooler. That space is the perfect size for my needs. I learned a few things in the process, so I hope this will help anyone else thinking about doing this project

                  1. Remove the cooler liner and the two screws underneath. This will allow you to remove that seat base/cooler from the boat.
                  2. Drill 8 small holes in the plastic located at the bottom of the seat base. The spay foam will later seal these holes.
                  3. Lay the base on the front carpeted kick panel with the rear portion on the top (cup holders are located on the rear) rotate the base towards you to begin filling. I suggest starting this way to ensure the smaller, hard to reach areas get filled first.
                  4. I used 13 cans of "Great Stuff” expanding spray foam insulation. If I had to do it again, I could save a lot of money by purchasing a Froth-pack 12 kit.
(http://icf.loyola.com/products/foam/froth-pak-12.html) It looks like a professional size of Great Stuff at half the price. I think you might need to order it online, because I could not find it at the hardware stores. It should be more than enough for the job.
                  5. Fill the compartment through the lower holes you drilled earlier. Fill just below the cup holders and let sit for about an hour to allow expansion. You can remove the cup holders to view your progress.
                  6. Replace cup holders and lay the seat base upside down. (Cooler opening down) Now fill the remaining area (cup holder compartment) thought the remaining holes.
                  7. Allow to sit over night. The drilled holes should vent excess pressure. Allow the foam to build up around the holes. You can pop off the access foam once it dries.
                  8. I ordered a Seattle Sport 25Q soft cooler. This cooler is about the same size as the space without the cooler tray installed. http://www.traveloasis.com/beer-cooler.html

I have not received the cooler or tested it out, but I expect it will hold ice nicely on a long hot day. I will post a review once I test it out. The foam is water proof so it should also do a good job at stopping any condensation from seeping through.
