    '06 210 SAN vs '07 210 SAN vs '05 220 SAN

So I finally got out behind an '06 211 and decided it's not for me.

I'm now mostly interested in a 2007 210 SAN and I've never been behind this or an earlier 210. From what I understand, the 210 hull design didn't really change until 2007. Earlier than 2007, this produced a steep, very wakeboard specific wake.

Then it seems the '07 hull redesign created an option for a more tunable wake with the addition of the hydrogate but a generally more rampy wake than the previous hull design. Am I getting this right?

Finally, I started noticing what seemed like decent deals on 2005 220s that have hydrogate and what looks like an interesting deck design. I started getting interested in these but have been somewhat discouraged by a couple of different dealers indicating that this boat hasn't been that well received, in large part due to a narrower beam leading to a very weight sensitive wake.

So I'm focused on finding an '07 210 SAN, even though the redesigned deck didn't hit until 2008. I've never boarded or surfed behind any of these boats, I have a 4 kids and wife ranging from beginner/intermediate but with very limited time on the water (like 4-5 hours this year). I'm probably an advanced intermediate and get in maybe 2-3 hours a year. I expect us to get better pretty quickly with our own boat. We also want to do more surfing. I'm hoping to get behind an 07 210 next week.

Are my observations here (gathered from reading and talking to dealers) fairly accurate? Am I looking at the right boat in a 2007 210 SAN (this is where I can find my price point and desired features matching up).

I have 4 kids (13, 11,9,8), and they always bring a friend. When we were looking at a boat I had many of the same questios as you. We went with an 07 SAN TE, and have been using it since July 4th weekend. Let me tell you it works great for our family. The seating rocks, we usually have a full boat and it is quite comfortable, can switch the back seat around, everyone has a great view. Also easy to change up riders. Lots of storage - get wakeboard racks. Oh and do the kiddies a favor and get the heater. If you find a boat without one have a dealer install one for you.
My kids had never skiid, tubed, wakeboarded, etc. After a month of use, my older two are wakeboarding like champs, jumping, going fakey etc. My oldest learned to salolom in just a couple tries. They all love to tube. You will not be unhappy with this boat.
