Does fresh air exahuast hurt your engine or make it less powerfull because it is going through one tube. We wakesurf a lot so do we even need it.

RE: Fresh air exahuast
It's a tuned exhaust system so it shouldn't hurt your engines performance at all. I installed on on my 236 this year and love it. Nice not having headaches at the end of a long day on the water since you're not breathing exhaust. Also dramatically reduces the sound of the engine both in & out of the water. If you can afford it, I recommend the addition hands down.

RE: Fresh air exahuast
This question has been asked a lot on here - do a fresh air exhaust search in the forums section. Bottom line - if you surf the FAE is an absolute must.

RE: Fresh air exahuast
A friend of mines Tige` has FAE and I think it is a must have. I would like to get it for my boat, but I just surf his.

Don't you mean carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide? Regardless, while they are odorless, other exhaust fumes are not, so while you are not necessarily safe if you do not smell anything, you do know that you absolutely are not safe if you smell a lot of exhaust fumes. My boat smells a lot better since adding my FAE. I also have not had a headache since. Noise was reduced somewhat. Now

Generally, you will lose about 1-2 mph on the top end and gain a little torque on the low end. I cannot speak to your exact engine. I know that it does not noticeably negatively affect my GT40.Now

I don't notice any speed reduction, but rarely run wide open for any extended time in my 220. I have enjoyed the noise reduction in the boat. It is almost as quiet as a Bayliner, Ha ha...
A friend of mine told me he could not believe how quiet the FAE is. He could only hear the water spraying back onto the lake when we passed by his lake home.

I have the FAE for a Python engined dd boat. We have really enjoyed how much quieter the boat is now (this boat/engine combo came w/o mufflers), and we do not get any noticeable fumes in the back seat anymore. Surfing is great, way quieter, and no fumes! As far as performance, we haven't really noticed anything other than the hot start can be a little more difficult sometimes.
If you surf at all, well worth the money.2008 230 TE-ZR6
