Loose it the hard way through starvation and working out for the first 25lbs. The last 5 lbs can be done through exlax and diuretics!

30 lbs is worth every ounce for a Nautique!!! There's always liposuction. You could lose 30 lbs tomorrow if you wanted...

max 30 grams of fat per day

            avoid white carbs

            NO sugar snacks or alcohol

All the fiber, veggies, etc. you can can eat. Careful on the veggies that are actually fruits: tomatoes, peppers, squash, etc.

Most people should drop weight pretty fast.

Do you want to just loose it and then gain it back? If not then forget about fad diets and stuff. It's all about Calories. You need to decide that from whenever you start going forward that you're changing your lifestyle (and having done it for 40 lbs I can say it's well worth it). Track all of your intake and exercise for a week or two to get an idea of where you're at. I used dailyplate.com to do that. For me (I was 210) went on a 1800 calorie per day diet (from previous 3200 average) and also had to take in at least 28g fiber (helps fill you up and make you feel less hungry). Now, and for next couple of decades it's 2100 in winter and 2200 in cycling season to maintain (I ride 3 - 4 days per week with each ride about 30 miles @ 21mph = 1600 calories burned thus the extra intake during summer). I've stayed under 170 for 6 years now (average 162) and feel better than ever.

                +1 for the calories

if you have an iphone you can get an app called Livestrong

I would imagine you will be surprised at the amount of calories you consume - and if it is
more than what you burn - you are not going to lose weight.

Yep, the whole deal is calories. The only thing that I could do consistently was to cut the portions on every meal. Eat good foods, not junk, and just keep the portions smaller than you typically do. About 2lbs per week is normal sustainable weight loss. Too much and it'll come back on right away. Best of luck.

I know a lot of firefighters. Good folks and darn hard workers. No wonder its tougher. I know the grub is great. Been there. Get a smaller plate. Tell those guys to help you with it. Keep thinking about that boat. Lots of water to fill the empty belly. Go baby go!
