put a pic of the boat you want to buy on everything. Background of your computer, locker, mirror in your bathroom, and THE FRIDGE. Before you eat always ask yourself are you really hungry. Don't eat unless your stomach is growling. Get in 30min of cardio a day. doesn't matter if you have to walk part of it just go for 30min. By the way I think the only reason a wife would make that kind of stipulation is because she doesn't think you will do it so please prove her wrong.
Good Luck! I can't wait to see the pic of your new boat.

Join the army and a become a RANGER. You wont be able to afford a blow up raft, but you will loose the weight and feel good about serving the Best Country in the world; in the only Government Organization that does something worthwhile for this great nation.

      Good Luck and "Ruck Up!!!!"

As someone mentioned, at least 8 - 8oz glasses of water every day. Lots of green fiber, limit your carbs and no white carbs.

Work out at least 1 hour 3 times a week.

In the end, the only way to lose is to burn off more than you intake.

I hear ya and keep it up!!! i have lost 19 lbs so far and it's been a good ride thus far. You have to make changes that you can keep up with, so it's permanent. I've started with a lot of subtle stuff to get there, but I will tell ya, if you're wakeboarding or slalom skiing then you'll really start to shape up, but you have to do it a lot. It's a great activity that keeps you healthy!!!

            Now that's funny.
january 1st 2009 I was 232 pounds. I told my family, if I don't get below 200 pounds by the 1st of may, my 210 is staying at the dealer for the summer. I stopped drinking (not a single drop since) and I run 5-7 miles / day. 1hr and you're done. may 1st 2009- 198 pounds on the scale. I've been enjoying my nautique ever since

Thought I'd give you a bit of the practical side from my experience. The dietician I worked with first had me track my normal eating habits for a week. She and my doc both said that a European diet is best and more specifically Mediterranean. Then when I was doing the 1800/day thing to loose weight I had 2 packs of Kashi oatmeal & a large cappuccino (some things are just not worth giving up) in the morning, lunch was usually subway (6" wheat sub melt or tuna w/ cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, s&p, NO DRESSING/OIL) or Noodles (most of the small sizes are good for lunch, no flat bread though). This usually left me with about 800 calories for dinner. Now that I can have 2100-2500 (depending on workouts) I usually do about the same during the day and just have a better dinner and maybe dessert.

                Her big recommendations to me:

                - ALWAYS eat breakfast, lunch, and supper. NEVER skip one.
                - NEVER snack between meals or after dinner (she did allow me a banana a couple of hrs before bed)
                - 28g of fiber every day
                - Veggies & fruit every day
                - 1 glass of red wine every day
                - Cycling on a real bike outside on a road or path is the best exercise.
                - Thus endeth the rules for dieting. EG, no other rules, whatever I want to eat within these rules was fine.

On days I ride my bike I have an extra plate of spaghetti (or other complex carbs) 3 hrs before the ride.

Kashi 'good friends' cereal w/ skim milk is also a good high fiber breakfast. Kashi (no, I don't work for them) fiber bars are wonderful now that I have room in my diet for them.

SkiTundra - Your diet is looking more like what I posted earlier except I didn't refer to a daily calorie number. Sometimes it is hard to manage it by the day. Everyone's metabolism is different. The general premise if you follow those guidelines is if you are hungry, eat something. If not, don't overeat. If you are not losing weight, cut back on fat and calories.

I'm surprised your bullets don't include a limit on fat. Sure there was a calorie guideline, but it is better to eat 500 calories of chicken meat than 500 calories of chicken skin.

Was there a number? I've seen the heart doctors say only 10g....a rediculously low amount.

Stand up for yourself! it's not your fault your over your ideal weight....it's because you haven't got the boat....not enough exercise in the bedroom.... etc. It must be her fault somehow. Go and get that boat!

Fat, saturated fat, sodium, and other stuff was left pretty loose. I think a big part of her thing was KISS and that staying around the daily calorie number would sort out the rest naturally. EG, eating 600 calories of real high fat food would leave me still hungry while 600 calories of more healthy stuff would leave me relatively full and at some point I'd sort it out on my own without having to watch a bunch of specific numbers. She was pretty intense on tracking stuff on a daily basis and sticking close to the 1800c/28g. On the other hand she didn't think it a big deal if I missed here or there. A couple of hundred over on Saturday wasn't a big deal or 50 or 70 over 2 or 3 days a week wasn't a big deal. She also said to NEVER try to make it up the next day. Regardless of any previous misses every day started with 1800 available even on a day after a 3400c day. I think I probably averaged closer to 1840 or 1850.

After going through all that and tracking stuff so closely for several months I got a good idea of about how many calories are in various things. Today I don't really track stuff online but just kind of keep it roughly in my head each day. If I start to go over about 165 (I weight myself about 2/month) then I'll track my intake until I'm back down.

It's coming back to me now. The WW Fat and Fiber plan.

                        Googled and copied:

                        1. Limit total fat grams to between 15 and 35 each day; men and youths up to 45.
                        2. Eat at least 20 grams of fiber per day; men and youths at least 25.
                        3. Men and women should eat at least 2 servings of dairy/day; youths 3/day.
                        4. Eat at least 5 servings of fruit and veg/day.
                        5. Go easy on refined sugar and alcoholic beverages.

There was also a 19 + 2 meal feature. Follow the plan for 19 of the 21 meals a week and 2 meals a week you could blow it. Just like you mentioned.

This one is a bit easier because a dumb guy like me only has to keep track up to 45 which is a much smaller number than 1500. You don't need to really keep track of the fiber as long as you know you are getting it.

If you are doing all this and not losing weight....1) exercise more and 2) CAP the calories like you are doing.

Keep it up. I went from 215 to 180. Cut total calories and implemented a good workout routine. I've held 180 +/- 5 lbs for 10 years now. Not always easy. I like food - too much. But it can be done! Good aerobic kept my appetite down compared to weight lifting which increased my appetite. I do weights, but lots of reps now to keep the aerobic component and appetite down. Lots of water. Best of luck.
