I have noticed my ballast will sometimes fill and empty when the pumps are not on. I have been closing the intake valves after the tanks are filled to keep the water in. I keep them closed during and after empting to keep them empty. I’m confused how the three ballast vent switches located under the helm work. Do these only need to be open when empting the tanks?

RE: SANTE ballast vents
Those are not ballast vents, they are shut off valves for filling. The original valves have a service bullitin because of leaking that would force fill the tanks if the ball valves were open. If you are closing the ball valves on the seacock then those other valves can be left open or even removed if you so choose.
Do you have any sacs added besides the factory tanks. I've never had issues with the factory tanks draining, but sacs on top of the tanks take a little work to fix.Jason

RE: SANTE ballast vents
Core-rider... No sacs yet, but I plan on adding them soon. I found your post regarding your install and plan on doing the same thing with some slight modifications. You still happy with your set up?
You said the original valves have a service bulletin. Does that mean they need to be replaced to work correctly? I purchased the boat used and they are probably the original valves. I have a 03.

RE: SANTE ballast vents
Yes, I haven't had any real issues with that setup. I still would like to tweak a thing or two and eventually want to replace the pumps with Jabscos, but the system works well as is.
Here is the service bulletin... http://www.planetnautique.com/Correc...Manuals/sb.pdf I just got the parts sent to me and did the work myself. Not sure if the service bulletin will still be good but it's worth a try.Jason
