2007 SAN 220 powerplant

I am in the market for a nautique. I found an 07 SAN 220 with the 5.7 L. on another forum. I was curious what everybody's thoughts on the power of this engine. Is it sufficient or should I look for a boat with an upgraded motor? Thanks for your input.

220's are nice, especially on the interior. You should really consider that 2002 SAN Python.

Why should I consider the 210 over the 220? Mainly because of engine or other reasons. The main concern about the 2002 SAN Python is it only seats 10. I have a family of 6 and am a little worried about the size.

My opinion was more motor based, and from the first thread. Maybe with 6 people in your immediate family the 220 or 230 would be better suited.
There is a pretty big leap pricewise, though.

I am a pretty big python advocate, and think if one is available, and you are in the market, that is the boat to get. Shortsighted, perhaps, but.....

Thanks for the input. I am wanting the bigger motor, but just not sure the 210 will work for me.

I beleive the 5.7L motor will pull anything you could ask for. Unless you are pulling a tower of 16 skiers or 6 bare footers you won't have a problem. Once you find out what you do the most if the motor doesn't seem to cut it all you have to do is reprop it. Alot less money

I too am a Python advocate 8-) it's hard going back to a small block engine!
Having said that, if you're new to inboards, and will be just starting to wakeboard and surf, a 330hp engine should be good for a few years, until your kids want to sink the boat with 3000 pounds of ballast! It's a tradeoff on a family boat, but if you fill it up with people and load the stock ballast up, it may take a little while to get on plane.

If you can demo the boat, try to bring your "crew" and see what it's like getting up on plane...
