I am getting ready to buy a Nautique and have a couple questions on gas. I am looking at a 211 or a 226. I was wondering how much gas each one burns per hour. Also what one would you guys say is better?! Thanks!

RE: HELP!!!
Gas should not be a problem for you with either boat. It all depends on how you run it.
Either boat is good, but you have to decide what you will use if for. 211 won't take waves like the 226, but 226 wont manuver like the 211. Pm me if you want to talk on the phone.

engine size matters too, as well as how you use it. I have the 275 hp 211 and run about a tank in 8 hours (I believe 36 gallons). This is about half tubing, which really drinks the juice.
As for function, the 211 is a do everything boat, but nothing excellent. If you specialize, go with a ski or wakeboard boat. If you're not specialized, the 211 will do you very nicely if you can deal with 9/10 person capacity (depending on the year)

Recreationly I am not sure anyone should be concerned about gas consumption. I for one don't want to keep track and feel better not knowing........ although there are rumors of an Epic with an electric assist motor that can ski for an hour on electric power alone.......2003 Ski Nautique 196 LE - Current Boat (Star Gazer w/ ZBox)

for the most part you don't want to think about fuel consumption. But making a few initial choices can mean a big difference. My fuel consumption dropped by roughly 1/3 when I came out of the Gekko (330 hp) into the 211 (275 hp). And it's a heavier boat. But I agree, don't focus on that or it'll ruin your day on the lake. That's why after almost 3 seasons I still can't give you anything specific.

That about equal to a round of golf at an above average course, way under what a family of 4 would pay to snow ski if broken down hourly and a night out drinking and eating would compare unfavorably with $16 per hour!
I can't afford not to boat!

I agree that you're not getting an inboard V8 so you can worry about fuel consumption.
On a separate note - and not to hijack the thread, but...

RE: Re: gas expenses
$150K for the Epic Boat. At that price it would be cheaper to fill my gas boat with liquid platinum. It would probably take 200 years to break even

The Future.....
Well, now to completely turn 360 on my gas comment (although I stand by what I said and also snowmobile a TON and DO NOT EVER want to see what I spend on fuel, although I do run 4-strokes.......)
SO, if Epic did make a boat and it was priced within reason............
Can you imagine a 3 hour range. For me and my family. We ski a course and that is it. We run MAX 2 hours at a time. Being in Douglas County WA we have the lowest electric rates in North America (sorry guys, but my entire house is electric-AC, heat, stove, hot water, etc.....-and we pay about $35 a month at max consumption at 90+ degrees outside and cooling the inside to 68.....)
So for me, if the boat was PRICED RIGHT, I would be a big fan. Not so much because I care what it costs to run my 196 LE, but because if it costs next to nothing...... I might have to think about it. Mostly I just consider the gas bill the price of having FUN in the SUN with my friends and family!!!2003 Ski Nautique 196 LE - Current Boat (Star Gazer w/ ZBox)
