IMHO, the promo program has NO effect on retail sales. Here's why. 80%+ ski boat buyers are rec skiers. Of that 80+ %, maybe 50 have a WaterSki mag subscription, but's that's about it. The vast majority don't go to tournys, don't know about sites like PN, and never heard of a promo program.
The promo guys get their boat's at or near cost, if that's the only perk they get, besides the actual fun of getting a new boat each year, more power to 'em. They still have to tow it from tourny to tourny, keep up on the maintenance, insurance, etc etc. That's a lot of jack out of pocket in my eyes.
It's going to be a loooong time before this country gets back to the mentality that business's deserve to make a fair profit. I don't boycott stores because the employees get a discount as a benefit. So promo guys getting a boat at cost........good for them. Good for CC.

I have to disagree with you on people not knowing about promo prices. The internet tells all. As for the vast amount of people being rec skiers and not going to tournaments.... what's the since in having promos...The solidfys the reason for not having them!
Promo team members stick them on the internet at blow out prices and with them buying the boats at dealer net or below why would a retail customer pay a dealer 20-25% more to buy a new one? Lots of information on the net or just call a promo owner and they will tell you.
Most dealers do not like the promo boats for just this reason as it greatly hampers their ability to make a profit.
Well we agree to disagree mi amigo. Until the economy tanked, this was not an issue. If it was, I never heard of it, and I'm very active in the sport.
We will see. I have heard the idea of Correct Craft having a list of the promo boats to sell off of. So the dealer can sell the boat. If damage is done to the boat it will be Mr Promo guys responsiblility to fix the issues before the boat is sold. Oh by the way look at the name of this thread 200 BOOKED THRU DECEMBER. I know of a guy that just ordered one and he will not see it until April.
At a current production level of 1 200 a week... maybe its 2 a week if they have the molds ...I can see the boat being booked until April....
I can tell you that being a promo guy is a losing proposition financially. I do it because I want to do my part in the skiing community and I want to make sure I have a CC at tournaments. As far as selling them cheap, you are comparing apples to oranges. The boats we are selling are used for a year before we sell them. We are not selling them below market value. We need to sell them at a good price so we can afford the next year's boat.

So do you actually deal with / pay for and pick your new 200 up at a dealer or is the factory selling direct to you as a promo?
