    Season Ending Injury?

How many of you have had a season ending injury? I am about half way through an 8 week healing process for some fractured bones in my foot. I landed funny doing a tantrum and fractured my 2, 3, and 4 metatarsals in my left foot.

Being off the water and on crutches has been killing me. The pain is gone for the most part but not the depression from sitting watching the rest of our warm days pass. How have you coped????

    RE: Season Ending Injury?

Ouch, how did you get out of the binding? I crushed my foot Memorial Day a couple years go, popping all the ligaments out between the metatarsals. That was a season delaying injury.

Sprained my ankle jumping in May this year, then sprained it again trick skiing in June. I was off the ramp until September. My shoulders need work but I want to play hockey this winter so who knows when I'll get around to getting them fixed.

You are in Texas. Take the boat out when the doctor says it is OK.

I had a buddy shatter both his ankles off a double-up. He was out for many months, but was a good driver while he was out Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Let's see...he did a lot of driving the boat and wakeboarding on Xbox

After having rotator cuff surgery 1 year ago today, I celebrated the recovery with 3 great slalom passes in course. I think the mental recovery has been harder than the physical. If you have not had any injury that stopped you before, then It is hard to cope, seeing everyone else have all the fun. You will come back and will be even more fired up to be on the water when you are released from the doctor.

          Good luck on the recovery!

One of my ski partners ruptured her achiles 3 weeks ago, had surgery 2 weeks ago, and was in the boat driving last weekend. She's taking it as an opportunity to practice driving deep shortline skiers while her leg convelesces over the next 6-9 months. Best thing to do is find a way to get in the boat and be outside. Whether it's driving for others, coaching, or just drinking beer while the others are riding.

Tore my knee up in a motocross accident the day before I was going to take the boat out for the first time of the season. Had surgery to replace ACL and repair my meniscus. Also partially tore my LCL, MCL and PCL with 2 bone fractures. Had to wait till Labor day to just surf. Doc says I have to wait next year for wakeboarding, snowboarding and motocross. I was able to drive for my wife as she surfed and wakeboarded this year.

I tore my knee up a bit kneeboarding in 03, out for the year and scope to repair. In 2006 I crushed L5 vertebrae like a pop can landing a backroll a little off on a new board. Put me off the water entirely for a few weeks, and I have not boarded since. I just surf and barefoot now.

Find a hydrofoil and do that for a while, much less strain on your knees/ankles.

Tore my ACL doing a tantrum on the wakeboard. I think it was in late June one summer. Got back to barefooting in august for a couple weeks before having it fixed. I don't wakeboard anymore.

I have always had problems with my left shoulder, torn labrum....fixed once. Now I have some instability and have D/L 4 times in the last 5 years skiing. I was planning on getting it fixed this year but the doc wants to do some serious rehab on me and see how it goes. He also said I had a small socket...which is part of the problem. He hinted at stopping skiing.....no chance.

My boat had a season ending injury.

Actually the trailer blew it's spindle heading home after dark 1/2 hr outta town. (supposed to be the last day of the Year) that is now guaranteed. Dealers been awesome finding replacement axle.... need to winterize boat, sitting outside, forecast includes snow. Boat may soon need a heart transplant

we had a lot of first timers up this year no serious injuries. Lots of call backs 5 days later still stiff and sore.

Torn ACL 6 weeks ago from a TS frontroll attempt on a wake much larger than I had any business riding. Surgery done about 3 weeks ago. Just hoping to go W2W again someday...surfing some, but still nothing like hucking yourself into the air behind the boat!
