    TOWER COVER QUESTIONS???

Now that the Sport has a tower  , I either need to modify my existing custom sunbrella cover or have a new cover made .
Does NE1 use a full cover, i.e., one that covers the tower also? What recommendations do you have?
It seems as though a "boot" that fits the tower could be sewn into the existing cover, yeah, I know it would be butt ugly  , but hey!, I would have a spider web and dirt free tower!

Talked to Patrick at Hot Bubby Products about tower socks - here's what I got.

    Colors available - Black
Sizes available - small or large
price - $449 regular, special through the end of August $389
Socks are washable with a hp washer (car wash or portable unit)
custom socks are also available if required and are fitted to based on measurements at dealers.
Socks work similar to a bimini cover with a zipper on the under side of the sock. The material has bungy type material sewn in for the stretch affect. Each unit comes with an additional 1/4" bungy to wrap around the outside of the sock after instalation to the tower - this reduces the flapping in the wind action that wears on the boat tower paint.

I am sending him pics of my 211 to verify fit.

I will follow up as follow this process throguh.

keep in mind, the factory cover has the "cuffs" that go around the legs of the tower with velcro/rope closures. I think it works just fine, and I can trailer the boat with the cover on it. Now if I went with a cover that just "draped" over the tower, there would be no chance of towing with the cover on, but it would provide better positive drainage if ever left outside when it rains. (I keep mine in indoor storage, so that is not an issue.)

I like the idea of the through tower, or tower through cover, while using one of those tower socks. I just might have too get me one to keep the tower bug free.

Well, I didn't do an adequate job of explaining the application. 1) I just added a tower to my Sport. 2) I would want the cover for storage in a marina boat slip/lift. The sock would be an added p.i.t.a. for this application, I think. But thanks AirNautique211!

ag4ever, what I was thinking of doing was having one of my "standard " Sport covers modified like yours, with the side velcro/tension ropes for trailering purposes. However for marina storage, I think the "over-the-tower solution has possibilities! Before I jump ito it I was looking for some education  !

For marina storage, I would probably go with a new over the tower cover just for the fact that it could be made to give you better rain protection. As in the cover would be less likely to sag with water collecting on it. But then again it would add more area for wind to affect it and possibly blow it off. But then again, it would also protect the tower as well as the boat.

              That is a hard decision.
