Good Deal on a Super Sport???

I have been looking for a good deal on a 90's super sport for the past few months and have located one in NC from White Lake Marine. It's a 1995 super sport with GT-40 engine with 155 hours and the asking price is $21,000. Here's the catch (or is it), the previous owner didn't winterize and therefore; the engine was replaced by the dealer. The new engine now has 30 hours on it. Is this a good deal or should I be concerned about the engine being replaced? I'm pretty set on the super sport for cost reasons, seating arrangement, and that we wakeboard 90% of the time.

That replacement engine could end up being a good selling point. You won't have to worry about an older engine now, and with it only having thirty hours, not too much could have been neglected yet. I see that that particular boat is at White Lake's Burlington/Graham location. I have dealt with them for a few years now, and they have always gone out of their way to treat their customers right. I would trust whatever they tell you about the boat.

Thanks Jeff. Does the price seem reasonable to you? There aren't that many out there for sale to compare. I'm having my brother test drive the boat tommorrow since he is in the area, so we'll see.

For this area, I'd say that is a pretty good price, especially considering the new engine. From the pictures, it appears to be very clean and, aside from a bit of fading on the speedometers, the interior looks like it is in good shape.

I would have your brother take a good look at the trailer. My '94 had some rust issues in the fenders, and the entire brake system had to be replaced about a year and a half ago.

$21,000 for a 95 Super Sport is an AWESOME deal. Sold my 95 Sport last December for $25,000 with four times that many hours and Throttle Body Injection vs. the EFI of the GT-40.

If you are at all concerned with previous neglect, understandable if that is truly what led to engine replacement, think of offering the asking price in exchange for a warranty. Dealer doesn't want to floor the boat over the winter and it seems like a very good (maybe too good) a deal for you.

21k is a great deal

I just bought a 95 SS in California with 150 hours for 21k, and I know I got a great deal. It is hard to find these boats for less than 24-25k especially with low hours. If you need some verification check boattraderonline.com. There are usually about 4 or 5 SS listed around the same age range going for between 24-30k with 300 plus hours. You can't get a better boat for a better price. I'm in the process of converting mine to a SAN with automatic ballast and FCT. Good Luck, sounds like a great deal.

Thanks all for the input. I sealed the deal today since everything check out. Now I just need to figure out how to get it to Oklahoma.
