Wow!? Aaron Rathy and Correct Craft split up?

Just picked this up off my RSS reader:

    http://www.fuel.tv/erikjernberg/blog...0141&type=Blog

    Wonder where he's going.

The author seems to allude to something like him going to Epic or Axis. It's very dodgy that way - like he knows something. Something weird like that. Do you guys think he'll take the typical route of going to Malibu or MasterCraft? I do wonder why they'd choose to drop a rider that's laying down bs1080's, crazy ole stuff, double inverts and so on.

    Any thoughts from you ppl?

    Thanks,
    Brann

Oooookay so the news is being discussed. Thought I'd bring it up here. Very surprising news to me.

The WW thread tells why. It was seemingly just a lapse in contract and lack of interest to resign on the part of CC.

Aye - an article of mine mentioned! Nice.

Yes its always interesting when these business decisions are made and the message boards label the changes as "dropped" and the like.

I personally followed up on this with Correct Craft PR. I didn't dig or pry but I did learn that the contract ended and no bridges were burned. They think he is an amazing progressive rider and publicly wish him the best in the future. I am in touch with him tonight for more info and planting the seed for an interview about his meteoric rise in the past year.

Of course that's what CC would say. Short of killing the owner or stealing from them, that's all any company is going to say about a former sponsored athlete or employee. Otherwise, they open themselves to litigation. The fact of the matter is, they either felt that for whatever reason they weren't getting a return on their investment or that Rathy didn't fit their company profile. You can sugar coat "dropped" any way you want it. But in effect, if his contract ended and they didn't renew it, then he was dropped by the brand.

I know I'm late from the buzz on this issue, but from strictly a performance standpoint this is a terrible move on CC part. I know a lot more goes into these decisions than just how the athlete is performing, like what was mentioned previously i.e. company image, riders attitude, ROI etc. But I have met Rathy a couple of times and he has always been a stand-up guy who has always represented the company in a positive light in my eyes. Oh well could be he was looking to get a big deal from one of the up and coming companies. Best of luck to him, he is absolutely killing it right now.
