I believe that I have always seen 196 associated with a Ski Nautique, and 211 with a Super Air Nautique, but I don't understand the significance of 206 and 216 and what a Team 216 is? Appreciate some insight as I am looking to buy my first Nautique. Thanks in advance.

Prior to 2003 the direct drives where using different model names, the following applies to 03' and later:
196 = Ski Nautique Closed Bow 19'-6"
206 = Ski Nautique Open Bow 20'-6"
216 = Big Ski Nautique open Bow 21-6"
That is it for the direct drive (center engine boats)
After that it's all V-Drive (rear engine Boats)
The Vee drive boats have had quite a few changes over the years, if that is what you are looking for perhaps someone else could explain those models.

V-drives have two lines: Wakeboard and crossover. The 211, 226 and 236 are "crossover" boats. However, the 211 is the only one with a recreationally acceptable ski wake (certified for class C tournaments). The 226 (now 216v) is essentially a wakeboard boat and the 236 is the exact same boat as the 230.
The Wakeboard boats are the 210, 220, 230. Each gets a little bigger and there are numerous discussions on the wake properties of each.
If you want to do everything, either a 211 or 216 (not the216v). The 211 is a wakeboard boat that ski's and the 216 is a ski boat that wakeboards. All the other models are for one or the other.
However, if you don't take anything extreme and this is your first inboard, you should be happy skiing and wakeboarding behind all. Only compared to the 196 does the 210 ski wake suffer. It still beats I/O's.
And FYI: the 196 and 206 are now the 200 closed and open bow (starting 2010).
I still don't understand when someone labels their post '03 boat as SANTE but doesn't specify 210, 220, or 230. Don't all of these have that configuration?

my suggestion is to do a LOT of research, take many test rides, and once you nail it down to a few choices the members on here can give you pros and cons of your choices. Most love their particular model for certain reasons that may or may not matter to you.
For example: I have a 211 and love the layout for days on the lake (wife hated walking around the DD motor). It has ample storage and the walk-thru is a major enjoyment feature for me. My only complaint is I have the Signature Edition which means I have a 275 hp motor. Not enough to get my 300 lb butt out of the water easily on slalom. Wish I had upgraded the motor.
