It won't make any difference to me, since the boats are such good quality, the warranty is not a big deal after 2 or 3 years since you don't really need it.

Well, I can't help but disagree. No matter how well these boats are built, issues may pop up between three and five years. If that was not truely a concern, then why shorten the warranty period? What benefit would that realize CC? All that shortening the warranty would achieve would be upsetting a loyal client base, and taking away a major distinction and selling point in the marine industry. No, the reality is that CC probably did a cost benefit analysis and the cost of fixing warranty issues that cropped up between the 3 and 5 year mark must have exceeded the value that they assigned to the good will and selling points attributable to the extended warranty. If this is a necessary evil in order to keep costs down and keep from laying off employees, so be it. However, no matter how you spin it, reducing the warranty period has removed a huge marketing edge and mark of brand superiority. I'm very sorry to hear this news.

Maybe I am missing something. I am reading the warranty information in the 2010 Owner's Manual to state that the only portion of the boat where the three year parts and labor and two additional years part only applies is for the upholstery. It appears that the rest of the boat (excluding instrumentation and audio) is covered for five years parts and labor.

Ah, so the 3 years only applies to upolstry. But what about that second paragraph. Seems to me that that paragraph says that the only transferrable portion of the warranty applies to parts. Is this new as well? Is there some other clause that applies to labor?

If the only change is to the upolstry warranty, that's not that big of a deal. Upolstry can be replaced for not all that much money after three years.

Warranty transfers have been parts-only for years.

NautiDave I am looking at getting a 230 or a Malibu 23 lsv. What kind of problems or bugs have you had with your boat? I think that is pretty weak that correct craft is lowering their warranty period even if it is just vinyl.

it has just been small irritating stuff like overlooked gel spots and a few interior issues as far as the bugs go. The one thing that left me hangin was a high pressure fuel pump at 100 hours and the boat had never been run low on gas. I think it was just a fluke. I still believe correct Craft is still by far the best out there. I have a buddy that has the lsv and it is a sick boat but I would go 230 over it any day mostly because of issues in the malibu with buttons on the dash wearing out and also it is an indmar engine which is in my opinion not near as good as the PCM. I love my 236 just not happy about CC warranty changes. All those gadgets that look cool on the malibus don't seem to outlast the warranty under heavy use. I also believe that the malibu warranty is 3 years or 300 hrs whichever comes first but don't quote me on that. Also the 230 has more rear facing seats which is great. Pablo hit me up if you have any specific questions.

Pablo I also would like to stress that I have the 236 from 07 which is the same hull and specs as the 230 but it is the first year of that model so my small interior (skins on a few seats) and Hinges on rear deck have been redesigned to work more effectively. Correct Craft did not hesitate to send me the updated parts and they were installed by my dealer free. They even had to do gelcoat work to fix where the old hinges were.

I have had 2 230's, and several of my friends own them. We have all had areas of the interior tear at seams in the vinyl. Specifically, my jump seat has torn, and the two removable rear corner seat bottoms have torn (this happened in all 4 of the 08 230's I've been in). Other than the vinyl issues, I haven't had any problems with my 230's, and I haven't heard of my friends having any issues. For the record, though, CC has taken care of those issues quickly and efficiently.

With regard to LSV's, I personally know two guys who have had major electrical issues with their '09's. Unless it was a matter of saving a big chunck of change, I wouldn't go with an LSV over a 230. In fact, both of those guys are considering switching to CC.

Nautidave is the 07 interior different than the more current models?

Chattwake, How was your 07 VLX in comparison to the 230"s you have had in regard to wake, performance and quality of boat?

I had more problems out of my VLX - both mechanical and with the vinyl. The wake behind the vlx was much less tempermental, but I perfer the 230's wake overall. The VLX was a quality boat, but it was not as solid as the CC's I've been in. However, the VLX is also a more affordable boat.
