    weighting a ski nautique

    hello everyone,
My family and i have a 1996 ski nautique direct drive and are not quite ready to get a new boat. My question is how much and were do you put weight in this boat to make the wake good. Right now the wake is far from what i would like. I was thinking of putting two large fat sacs on both sides of the engine is that enough or is that o.k.? Any suggestions would help.

    P.S.
I love the wake of the 2003 super air nautique just F.Y.I.

I used to run behind a 92 Sport with two 600lb bags on either side of the engine. The wake was plenty good.

I know the hulls are different, but its a good reference.

        IMHO

weight behind the motor will create a bigger (steeper) wake rather than beside....

not as helpful advice try each way. The speed you ride and rope length may affect where you want the weight.

        How old are the kids?

Do you have an extended 7ft pole.

if you don't. i would buy a pole and a 600 lbs sack to go between the motor and back seat. that alone will beat most i/o's

easiest way to learn the weighting is to bring a bunch of people and move them around the boat

adding weight to the front of the boat along with the back will make a big less steep wake on a SN i wouldn't bother trying this.... use people ballast to experiment with this

        hope this helps
