    ZO surging solved & 2009 - future SAN 210 - ZO only

Yellow_Flash_Colorz: First the positive. Eric F at Zero Off is awesome. Good response, got my ZO head unit software update done and back to me in record time.

Here's the rub and the questions. 1. Why in a technical sense woudl ZO GPS speed control cause crazy porpoising / surging in even light chop on a SAN 201 and not the larger hulls. Full balanced wakeboard ballast....no surging or issues if hand driven (ugh) or on RPM mode.

I have been told that CC is sending me new Hockey Puck (antenna) and wiring harness...and that the problem is resolved. I'd love to hear from a 2008 or newer SAN 210 owner who is mostly wakeboard oriented AND had ZO GPS problems that were resolved with the new antenna and software patch combo...

RE: ZO surging solved & 2009 - future SAN 210 - ZO only

Even on my 196 in choppy water it surges. I know ZO employs an accelerometer and you can feel it surge as the bow drops down off of a wave. Not really an issue with me since I only take the boat over to public water about twice a year. But interesting.

not a 210 but 230 , had same problem, put new antenna on ,no problem at all .We only wake board, with 3000 on top of stock ballast ZO should have come out with a fix 2 years ago.

Great info.... do you have the 09 ZO with gps and the new antenna/software patch and it still surges? they say they have the surge fixed with a gyroscope plus accelerometer so it knows now if it is coming off the wave....hmmm

thanks..that give me good hope if you had same problem and were offered same fix..and it actually fixed.....ZO says the software patch plus new bigger antenna with an improved gyroscope and accelerometer is a sure fix..... IF not I'll order an old school perfect pass.....tell them I have an 08 since they can not sell for 09 even tho same boat..... but I think ZO has it solved.

            DDD thanks you.

How can you tell if you have the older style antenna or the newer style? Do you go back to the dealer for the new one? I"m going in for winterization this weekend and talk to them about it then.

Somebody please post a pic of this "new" antenna. I've got an 08 210 and it does porpoise in rough water. I thought that the software update was required to fix this? Is this correct? Or do I just need to buy a new antenna?

the old antenna is round and the new one is kinda squareish.

Pic of the new puck on a 2010 210

After driving the boat on familiar waterways, the new puck and software appears to be much better when compared to the previous models.

Now if only ZO could solve the River mode functionality issue. CC dropped the paddle wheel speed indication on our 2010 210 TE model , thus making it even harder to reference and compensate for ZO setpoint adjustments when riding in rivers.

I have also ordered a 2010 210TE, Im concern if my 210 will come with the new antenna or the old one. And how does the new model get the speed signal without the paddle wheel? GPS?

The 230 definitely has this porpoise problem too. I have talked to the Zero Off guys and Larry at CC and he has authroized the swap of mine in my 2009 230. This was a few months ago.

However, I wanted to wait until the offseason to have it done due to the hassle for me to get it to the shop. I will probably have it done right before the 2010 season begins... (after last freeze but before water is warm).
