    My experience with HQ Marine

    Hi all

Bought a 2007 236 TE Demo in September (cash) from an official dealer. I never received the reg/title and I find out now that the dealer (HQ Marine) like others is on the outs with GE Financial (and CC) and will no longer be a CC dealer. I am told that GE has the MSO and that a shortfall between dealer and GE is to blame, but should be resolved in "7 to 10 days".

Luckily I have the boat which I bought in a good faith transaction from the dealer but was unaware of their problems, and frankly since I paid cash to the dealer it essentially seems to me to be a fraud that the dealer sold me a boat with MSO held elsewhere.

Considering filing a consumer fraud complaint in NC but the owner seemed believable and wanted to help, but I don't want to have GE coming and asking for "their" boat back.

Emails to regional CC rep unanswered

    Suggestions?

They sold you the boat and did not have the MSO at the dealership? Usually when financing a boat you send the MSO off to the company providing the financing for them to have on file until the boat is paid off.

Do you have the boat registered here in NC? Was it previously registered with numbers in NC? If you bought the boat to register in NC I am sure you paid fees for that when you got the boat and the dealer should have sent something off to Raleigh as that is part of the contract.

If you bought the boat for CASH under fair market value, I would go to the police or it will look like you were in league with the seller to defraud the bank. IMO. But what do I know, I slept at a Holliday Inn last night.

It was a demo, ie used, and was in line w/NADA value. It was a good faith transaction (on my part) and I am just glad I have the boat. I live in SC and have the stub of the app for SC DNR reg which was good for 60 days as registration, but this is a never-titled boat. The dealer is licensed in NC and SC I believe. Not sure how I could appear to be willing party to fraud--they could have taken my $ and never delivered the boat which would be far worse! I dont want to pile on their problems but I want to protect my interests.

In a word... Frustrating. The service I asked for was not provided. Literally, ignored or incomplete. And many more details. BUT they were friendly and I'll bet, competent. I'm going to put this experience under the heading "economic downturn". Everyone is being asked to do too much with too little. I still hope someday that this very large lake (Norman) will have a permanent CC dealer. Until that day comes, I recommend The Boat Rack, Race City Marine & Wake Noise. Can't buy a CC there, but they'll give ya good service.

                tchap1,

Which 07 236 did you buy from them? Was it an all white loaded with a custom stereo?

Sad to hear, but I saw it coming for some quite some time. I hate it for Tony and most of the others there.

Any word on where BT and or Jason are?

No it is black and red. Jason is at a Chevy dealer I am told (frying pan to fire?). Seems the issue is resolved thanks to Sammy Roberts who tracked down the MSO and then the HQ people called and have sent it on to SC DNR. Tony Quinn has been straightforward and very helpful (though this should not have happened). I hope they get things back on track and I plan to continue using them for service etc.

Cool, thanks, I somehow missed seeing that boat. Glad to hear things are on the right track with your boat.

Back selling used cars is a great place for Jason, only better if he went back to Ohio Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Have you had some bad experiences with Jason? I have bought two boats from him when he was in Ohio and he took great care of me. The dealership he worked at on the other hand messed up some of my paperwork but it wasn't his fault.

Is this the same Jason that was working in Columbus? If so, he needs to go elsewhere.

Hmm, lets just say we have our professional and personal differences. There is no love lost between Jason and myself. Everyone else at HQ I consider friends.

I cant remember exactly where he was from, but it was a family owned car dealer that also sold CC's. They dropped/got dropped last year. He has a nickname of "Hotchick", if you know his last name, you'll see where it comes from.

I bought a 99 SNOB from him and did not get a bill of sale or anything that would allow me to use the boat, after giving him a certified check.

Not very happy with his responce or the dealerships.

I know there are good dealers out there, but we seem to have a dearth of them in the central Ohio area.
