    Advise on boat purchase

    Hey guys,

I'm new here and looking to see if I can get some advise on a boat purchase. I am looking to get a SAN 210. I found this boat on eBay and its everything I'm looking for and its in my area. I'm not really sure what to look at on the boat to make sure it is in good shape. I plan on trying to arrange a meeting with the seller to take a look at it, and wondering what to look for. Here is a link to the ad so maybe you guys could take a look at it to see what you think.

    Thanks,
    Robbie

Picture number 16 on the ebay page - what is going on with the hull in the stern area (reflection or blisters?)
How many hours - I did not see them listed

The boat looks pretty clean. Def take it for a test run to make sure everything runs well. Seems like a good deal, which might be a bit fishy. Check the hours too.

Looks like a pretty good scratch in the gelcoat just under the bilge ports on the port side (near the back), looks like its in good shape though - make sure your purchase is contingent upon a first hand inspection and taking it for a water test to make sure everything works (bilge pumps, ballast, gauges, etc)

Check the bow, something bent that bow roller on the trailer. My trailer has the same set up and I can't imagine hitting the trailer hard enough to do that. also check underneath the boat I suspect that was damaged from someone coming in to fast to a trailer that was to deep.

                TX foilhead,

I have seen several that are bent like that. Its not usually a single event that bends them. They bend a little each time someone powers on the trailer.

Just a couple of items to note: - the trailer is not the original, it's an '08 and the boat is an '04, so the damage to the bow stop could have been done by another boat; I wouldn't worry too much about the odd scratch here and there, with 400 hours they are bound to happen, but if there are numerous scratches and dings it might indicate misuse and lack of care; it's from an auto wholesaler which means there is a good possibility that the boat was bought at an auction, possibly a repo, with that being the case, if I were serious about this purchase I would spend the extra time and money and take it to a good mechanic and pay him to look it over. Good luck.

My dealer knew this particular boat. He said the transmission was shot and the owner didn't want to put anymore money in it. He said they guy let it go back. He also said it wasn't very well kept. Thanks for all the input. I'm back to looking for another.
